I loved everything about this unit and its location! Every time we needed something, we'd look around the unit, and there it was almost every time. We started calling it the "room of requirement" (Harry Potter reference).
It is a corner unit so the lanai is very open and breezy. The view is totally unobstructed and so peaceful. They actually pruned the tree right next to the lanai on our second day and it opened up the view on the right side incredibly! The way it’s laid out, we were able to have the front door open for a cross breeze but have almost total privacy (thanks to a tree growing by the balcony).
We saw whales every day from the lanai. The recliners on the lanai were super comfy, and the table had high chairs so it was easy to see over the railing. The beach in front of the condo is gorgeous and sandy, and only a 2-minute walk (the photos make it seem farther). The waves are strong and there are rocks, so it wasn’t safe for swimming. There was zero road noise. The whole place is incredibly quiet, and usually all you can hear are the birds, wind, and waves. The birds are loud though! We are bird lovers, so this was fine with us, but I could see them being annoying to some folks, as they make some noise at night and early in the morning.
We had to close the lanai doors at night because of mosquitos (which weren’t too bad) but there are screened windows you can open at night for a breeze. Also it has a ceiling fan and a floor fan. The king size bed was super comfy, and they have TONS of pillows! The loft has a very big armoire so you can unpack all your clothes.
The kitchen was incredibly well stocked, with brand new high-quality pots and pans, good knives, a Britta filter, and many small appliances. They have everything you need for outings: two soft coolers on a dolly (plus an extra dolly in the closet), beach umbrella, beach towels, and two backpack-style beach chairs. There is a little store in the complex that has some basic necessities, so you don’t have to drive 30 minutes to the store for something small.
The unit is walkable to two incredible beaches: Make Horse (.75 mile away) and Papohaku Beach (.5 mile). The fact that it’s on a defunct golf course is really great because there are tons of paths to walk on.
When we arrived there was a basket of welcome treats, lots of ice in the ice trays, and a full Britta filter in the fridge. I will definitely be back to this place...it was one of the best vacations I’ve ever had!
