The house itself is lovely and well-appointed, with particularly modern and updated bathrooms. We appreciated the abundance of supplies—plenty of towels, dishes, silverware, and even a generous selection of spices. The backyard opens up to a serene lake, and the view is truly breathtaking. However, the yard itself felt cluttered, almost like a flea market, and could benefit from a thorough cleaning to match the beauty of its surroundings. The most significant issue with this rental was the owner’s approach. A few days before our trip, we were sent a two-page contract filled with punitive clauses and were told that entry instructions would only be provided upon signing. In fact, we received the access details just one hour before arrival. Then, a day our arrival, we were informed that the large window overlooking the lake was broken and would not be repaired in time.After our departure, we were notified of a supposedly burnt pillow and billed 50 through VRBO. When I asked for clarification, I received three conflicting explanations about where the pillow was found. I provided video evidence of our departure, which showed no damage or burnt pillow in the area cited. Only after this did the owner withdraw the claim—though not without a condescending tone.Our group has been renting through VRBO for over 15–20 years, and we've never encountered treatment like this.
