Welcome to Shell Hunter – Your Peaceful Riverside Retreat

Looking to unplug and unwind? Shell Hunter is the perfect escape for the whole family. Nestled in Fairview, known for its breathtaking sunsets, this riverside gem offers beachcombing adventures with sea glass, shells, and even shark teeth. Whether you're up for a swim, a relaxing paddle in the kayak, or just soaking in the view, Shell Hunter delivers serenity with a splash of adventure.

The Space

Shell Hunter features a stunning view of the Potomac River with generous deck space to enjoy it. The spacious primary bedroom opens to its own private deck, perfect for morning coffee or evening stargazing. Downstairs, you'll find two additional cozy bedrooms. A bright sunroom and a charming outdoor patio provide even more space to relax and reconnect.

Guest Access

Guests will enter through the welcoming sunroom on the main floor—kick off your shoes and settle into your riverside home away from home. There is a ring camera door bell on this property.

The space was clean, inviting, and easy to find. We stayed on a particularly hot weekend and were pleased with the level of cooling we got from the AC! The outdoor shower and hose were great for rinsing off with cool water after visiting the river. The beach is just a couple minutes' walk away and was quiet and pleasant. A lovely stay, would definitely stay again!

House was lovely. From the pictures I was thinking the house was on the water. (Possibly I didn’t read well enough and just assumed) That was disappointing for a second until we walked a couple houses down to the river. It was peaceful and wonderful. We didn’t stay long but it was perfect for us.

So grateful to have a vrbo where our two 50 lb dogs are welcome. The new home being built next door is beautiful to watch them finish but to see the river we only had to turn left out of the driveway and walk around the corner to see it or go outside the master bedroom to the end of the deck and we could see a slice of it. The owner responds well. It is quiet; there are basic provisions and the a/c works great! The beds were also very comfortable!!

Awesome house right on the water! We enjoyed some boating and were extremely pleased that there is a launch ramp at the end of the road and a great little seafood place on the water within walking distance. The house itself had a ton of room, plenty of outdoor space and was extremely clean! Already starting to plan our next visit.

By far the best place we have ever stayed. The house is well equipped. The host was very quick to respond to messages. All this and a spectacular view of the river. I will definitely stay here again when we are back in the area for a visit.

The sun room is the entryway and is up a few (5?) steps from the driveway. The open kitchen, dinning and family is roomy for 4 people. Two bedrooms and a bathroom are just off of the kitchen ares. The spacious master suite is up a long flight of stairs. It features a king-sized bed, a walk - in shower. Lots of power and usb outlets, a stunning view of the Potomac River. Also available through the master bedroom is the Laundry Room that has massive washer and dryer.The kitchen has a Keurig 2.0 Coffee pot, The host has provided a selection of K-pods from Food Lion. The refrigerator is a full-sized LG. The range/oven is gas. There is a microwave oven.It is a bit of a drive (25 minutes) from Fredericksburg, but to get away from the hourly-burly of the Washington DC area is a just tradeoff. WMATA and VRE stops are an hour away at Huntington or Franconia stations.Overall it was comfortable, restful, clean and gave us access to Monticello and to DC. A great VRBO.

Rented this property for a family reunion for my husbands family to stay in (5 people). Provided a great location for them close to our home, where they could relax and have their own bedrooms and bathrooms. Very reasonable cost. Being close to Tim’s II restaurant was a great perk as we were able to have family dinner for 11 people there with no issues. I would definitely rent this place again.

My family has been here for generations, along with most of my neighbors. There is much pride and love in this lil private beach, along with plenty of smiles to go around.

With a short walk to the beach, you can enjoy amazing sunsets or sunrises. The River rarely disappoints with its views and you can even catch a glimpse of some Bald Eagles flying around. Of course, not with out chatter from the Osprey.
