I was scheduled to stay at this location for 3 nights. The day before my arrival I was informed by the host that due to a scheduling error the house was double booked and the house was currently occupied and my reservation would have to be cancelled. Now I can understand that things can and will happen however what I do not appreciate is the host lack of knowledge of what to do if something like this happens. The host did offer to find me alternative lodging but was unable to do so - I booked a hotel room instead. In addition the host told me that I should cancel the reservation on my end since she could not process a refund on her end and that I would need to contact the insurance company directly if I wanted to pursue a claim for costs associated with making alternative arrangements. What I should have done is contacted VRBO directly. They offered to make it right by refunding my monies immediately (including the insurance) and stated they could have helped me reserve another location (whether that be with another VRBO property or a hotel). If I knew about this I would have been able to get a property that was at least similar in size vs a small hotel room that I ended up with. So bottom line I will never book a property with this host again simply because of their lack of customer service and lack of desire to make it right for a situation that I did not create!
