Welcome to Apache Cottage, a peaceful desert hideaway tucked beneath the towering Chiricahua Mountains on a historic family-owned ranch. Surrounded by natural beauty and wildlife, this cozy two-room cottage is perfect for birders, stargazers, hikers, and anyone looking to unplug and reconnect with nature.
Ideal for couples, small families, or friends, the Apache Cottage sleeps up to 4 guests with a queen bed in one room and two twin beds in the other. You'll enjoy a wraparound porch, private patio, and bird feeders visible from every window—a front-row seat to the region’s incredible avian life.

オーナー : Bill Cavaliere
We’re Bill and Jill Cavaliere, your hosts here at Four Bar Cottages. Bill moved to the Portal area in 1978 and spent years working in the Chiricahua Mountains, including as a fire lookout, before retiring as sheriff of Hidalgo County, NM. He’s now a local historian, birder, and author. Jill is a registered nurse who grew up just down the road in Rodeo, NM, and enjoys connecting with people from all over the world. We love this land and look forward to sharing it with you.

It’s a quiet, close-knit place where nature still speaks—and people take time to listen.
