Beautiful mature trees everywhere -there is a 400+ year old white oak in the backyard. That is absolutely gorgeous. You don’t see trees like that anymore. gorgeous views of the country, pastureland trees, creeks, and rivers are all around the house. This is a recent review from a wonderful Knoxville TN guest; “If you are a city person with some country roots, this place will do something for your soul, it certainly did for mine.
My stay at this unique farmhouse was the most restful, peaceful, nostalgic time I've had in a long while.
The views from every window were breathtaking alone.
What a perfect country setting with barns, huge open fields, backed against a deep woods next to a monster walnut tree. As for the house, it has been newly renovated after 50 years of sitting vacant, with the intention of keeping as much originality as possible in the home while also providing all the modern comforts we would desire, and Kelly did not disappoint.
That's right, one truly remarkable lady did all the hard work, including clearing the perimeter with a chainsaw!
She kept the original hardwood floors the walls, and the tin roof, enough to
take you back in time. The large bathroom has a beautiful claw foot bathtub and walk in shower. The bedroom has two very comfortable beds with ornate wooden headboards. The living room has a large screen TV, cozy furniture, a stereo, and of course WiFi. The kitchen has an old fashioned sink like my grandmother used to have, a full size refrigerator, two ovens, a microwave, coffeemaker, and every dishware and cookware you might need. Outside you have three porches, complete with tables, chairs, grills, lots of space to move around or just sit and soak in the landscape.
The decor throughout the house includes objects found on the farm, collectibles and antiques, as well as much reading material that points to a time all but forgotten.
Another pleasant surprise was a steep stairway leading to the low ceiling upstairs which has two cute full beds next to very stylish windows, surrounded by fresh cedar, kids would adore this charming hideaway!
And, if it happens to rain, you will experience the most soothing sound known to mankind, rain on a tin roof.
Rain will not ruin this vacation, it will seal the deal! Ican't say enough about my stay here. It was a reminder to me of the intense beauty of the simple, the therapeutic effect of quiet solitude, and the absolute priceless value of the country life. I will stay here again!”
