Me and my wife Liz are from this area although we both have spent time in other parts of the world; we found ourselves coming back to this area. I am a current member of the Army Reserves and have been serving in the military for over 35 years with plans to retire. I am currently employed with West Virginia University Army ROTC and enjoy spending time with friends and family. My wife, Elizabeth (Liz) has been in healthcare for over 20 years and is currently a nurse at a long-term healthcare facility. We enjoy hosting because we get a chance to meet many different people and create a great space and make the most enjoyable experience for them.

We really love this area for its scenic beauty, outdoor recreation, unique natural preserve, and local establishments. As a small town known as "the Jewel of the Alleghenies" and the snowiest town in the state, it offers a peaceful, mountain-centric getaway with year-round activities.
-Hiking: Trails near Terra Alta, such as those at Coopers Rock State Forest, offer spectacular canyon views. Cranesville Swamp Preserve also has several trails under two miles long.
-Water activities: Alpine Lake Resort offers lake access for swimming, fishing, and boating. Visitors can stay at the resort hotel or rent cabins. Golfing: The 18-hole golf course at Alpine Lake Resort is popular among visitors.
-Winter activities: Terra Alta receives a significant amount of snowfall, making it a great winter destination.
-Snow sports: Alpine Lake Resort is a great spot for winter fun, with amenities for sledding and cross-country skiing. Nearby Canaan Valley Resort State Park also offers winter sports.
