We prepaid for our stay at the apartment and we’re excited about the amenities, such as free pick up, breakfast foods, etc. The trouble started when we tried to contact the host for our free pick up. The phone line kept ringing busy, they didn’t respond to messages through the VRBO system or to text messages. We contacted VRBO and received the worst run around that we’ve ever experienced while traveling. We spent over 6 hours on the phone with them over a three day period. They recommended ludicrous solutions such as we should just stay in Split at our current hotel, we must wait until 3 pm check in time before they could start to find us a new place and then they said we had to give the host an additional day beyond our scheduled check in to communicate with us. It was a horrible experience. We’re Americans snd did not have international cell service except when we could use an app with WiFi so we had to rely on being in a lodging to have these extensive conversations with VRBO. We ended up booking another place to stay through Expedia and VRBO finally gave us back our money. Be very careful when booking an apartment that it is not actually through VRBO/HomeAway. Their customer service was beyond terrible.
