UNSAFE ...BEWARE....No security safeguards in place,
On December 8th-16 2018 my wife, I booked a house in Crucita, Ecuador thru HomeAway.com. On the 15th of December during our stay someone broke into the house, while we were sleeping. The person preyed a section of the window off , entered our house while we were sleeping and took my wife’s back pack which was on the night stand beside where she was sleeping. When we woke we noticed the back pack, another bag was missing, I discovered the items outside in the yard with all of it content throw all over the closed in yard. We informed the owners of the situation and they had a worker install more boards to keep the window from sliding. The damage was done, we felt violated, unsafe in the area. this unit didn't have a working alarm system, or security safeguards in place. For some strange reason the person left passports, etc. We felt blessed to have our life and our travel documents. We are reporting this to HomeAway, the Ecuador Travel Ministry in the hope that some guidelines be setup in place to make there places safer for the next customers and their reputation.
