Short's Brewing draws visitors from all over, and their outdoor beer garden is a summer institution. The Intermediate River runs right through downtown for kayaking and canoeing. Shanty Creek is 7 minutes for golf and outdoor activities.

Torch Lake — one of the most beautiful lakes in North America — is 10 miles away with sandbar gatherings all summer. Traverse City wine country is a 30-minute drive.
