We recently stayed in the Penthouse Villa and had an absolutely amazing trip. This was our first time not staying in the hotel, and it was better than we could have expected. The unit was perfect for our family, three adults and a one year old. Having had so many wonderful stays at the hotel, we were very reluctant to make the shift to a home.
Below are some of the key pieces of information that we find helpful when searching properties and trying to make decisions, especially at a place like Hualalai where there are a lot of great units. Also, the team at Kema Kama took excellent care of us from start to finish.
Booking: was super easy and the team immediately answered all of our questions. Traveling with a one year old from the east coast can be stressful, they made this very easy.
Pre-trip organization: the team at Kema Kama helped us with everything from ordering a crib, baby items (diapers etc), groceries, wine and beer. Everything was seamless.
Arrival: communication throughout was fantastic. We were greated by the onsite team with fresh lei's and coconut water. They gave us a tour of the home and all the systems. The only drawback is the slightly dated and complicated lighting system.
The unit: absolutely stunning. Had everything we could have hoped for. A ton of space. The lanai is amazing! We ended up eating many dinners and having drinks on the lanai. We were initially a little concerned with a one year old who likes to run around and explore, but the railing was completely safe. The cleaning people came every day and were great.
Location: if you plan to spend time at the hotel, this unit is very well placed and a VERY short golf cart ride to the residents beach house. We thought this would be difficult with a baby, but it ended up being extremely easy and fun for her (and us).
Other: while we thought we would eat a ton of meals and hang at the house, we actually found we let the pros handle much of the cooking; we were on vacation after all! We love to cook, but on multiple nights we ordered food from beach tree or the residents beach house and brought it back to the lanai.
We absolutely would stay here again and for anyone contemplating a rental vs hotel, just do it! You won't be disappointed.
