Quaint Carmel Village Cottage

Great property located near restaurants and the beach. The house is situated at the top of the hill so walking to Carmel Village was not an option for us. Had great visit and the only issue was a broken grill which was not replaced during our expended stay.

Our dog loved walks in the Mission Trail Preserve (just a half a block from the house) every morning and runs on the beach in the afternoons. Evenings by one of the two gas fireplaces were very cosy. The house and neighborhood are quiet and peaceful, yet only a few blocks to downtown.

The house was walking distance to most all restaurants and the main activities in Carmel-by-the-Sea. The walk to the beach was longer but still doable. Our house was comfortable and in a quiet neighborhood with ease of travel by car to many points of interest.

Carmel Perfection

What an incredibly comfortable house with a great location. Walking into town was a breeze (a very hilly breeze, but enjoyable none the less) and Mission Trail was just steps away for great dog hikes. For the pet crowd, the house is perfect for dogs with safely enclosed front and back yards. The house was spotless and very welcoming when we arrived. Kitchen is fully equipped for serious cooks, towels all matched, and linens were fresh and well-chosen. Sanctuary Vacation Rentals were so responsive to any problems we had and they are extremely organized with how-to instructions and pertinent information that made the stay so smooth. The house is just a gem, the neighborhood is almost spooky quiet, and the proximity to trails and town makes for such relaxing and fun stay. Hope to come again soon.

Charming home in Carmel

My mother and husband went home a week early. I could never get yard lights to work in side and back yard. Had to use a flashlight for my pup to do his business in gorgeous backyard at night. TV in living room has a line down the screen (maybe tv needs repair), no dust pan, or swifters. 1 vacuum that is downstairs, need additional one upstairs would be nice. Infinity cable was excellent, many channels, great fireplaces and bbq grill. It's like living in the forrest. We really enjoyed our stay.

We had a stroller so this made it difficult but still doable. The house was great overall but the sofa in the family room NEEDS replacing. Feathers everywhere and doesn't keep shape at all. Also, as others have mentioned a cordless vacuum would be a HUGE help up stairs. The one provided is SO old and heavy and makes it hard to keep the floors clean. Last nit picky thing, the rugs are terrible. All of the rug pads are too large for the rugs and so they get bunched up under the rugs and get very annoying, it was a constant battle. We would love to stay here again one day but do hope they are able to iron out these issues.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We found the house very dark. it gets very little natural daylight, except very late in the aft. In just a few rooms. The result was it was always cool in the house and you have to run the heat too much. Downstairs bedroom gets NO heat. Laundry is in a wine room with no counter or place to hang clothes. Main BR mattress very lumpy and needs replacement. Second BR upstairs faces a wall so no light at all. Kitchen TV room sofa seats need filling. Kitch counter bar seats hard and uncomfortable. Plenty of hot water and kitchen fine. No comfortable seating outside to relax. Trees and growth need serious pruning to allow light.

We enjoyed the house and the location very much. We would definitely return. One thing to note, the property management company was very slow to respond to a few issues we had, however, eventually things were resolved. Overall, a wonderful stay.

We had a wonderful time - daily walks to the beach! Love the home and especially the fireplace - very cozy ! One comment - the neighbor - northside - was very very noisy - their garage door went up and down in the middle of the night - it woke everyone up - not good! We tried to reach them but no one answered the door - I rated location low bc of this noise

Perfect Carmel Getaway

So many wonderful aspects to this rental- where to begin?! To start, Serenbe felt like coming home. It's charming, warm, picturesque and just all around lovely. The location is wonderful, quaint Carmel neighborhood, but minutes walking distance from a busting shopping and restaurant strip, and also walking distance to the gorgeous beach! The decor inside is so well done, you don't feel like you're in a vacation rental, you feel like you're in your own wonderful home away from home. The kitchen is really well stocked to cook in, which we did quite a few times, and also experienced some amazing restaurants in town. I really enjoyed all of the artwork and photography in this home, too, was unique/worldly and beautiful. Other features we enjoyed were two fireplaces inside the home and another fireplace in the private back area with a table and chairs that makes for a cozy and romantic setting for wine and apps or a meal, too. There were two of us here, but definitely seems large enough for multiple couples or families- honestly would love to go back with more people, also! On top of the fantastic home and amenities, the weather was great, and we really enjoyed all of the offerings the location had to offer. We did some hiking in Big Sur, wine tasting in Carmel Valley, massages and an entire day of relaxing at Refuge Day Spa, felt like locals in the downtown area on Main Street steps from the home, and really enjoyed simply walking the neighborhood to the beach, and little trails minutes from the home, too. Whoever owns this home, well done and thank you so much for the amazing stay. Memories for a lifetime.
