It was my pleasure to stay in Ellen and Caesar's home recently for four nights. Everything is lovely and gives you a feeling of architectural history while still offering all the modern conveniences like wifi, keyless entry, modern kitchen, plenty electrical outlets, etc. The entry room has a gorgeous wall length bookcase and a very large wooden table, as well as the staircase that the owners use to go to their upper floors. The guest bedroom is a few steps down and I never heard any clomping above me like I've experienced in other historical Amsterdam homes; in fact it's on the rear of the house and totally shielded from street noise. I was pleasantly surprised to find a full size (by American standards) modern refrigerator in the totally upscale kitchen as well as a king size bed in the bedroom; both rareties here, so these owners have gone to great lengths to offer comfortable and modern niceties while still maintaining the authentic experience. The hosts are so nice and thoughtful and even though they live above; I never saw or heard them unless we had pre-arranged it which is perfectly non-obtrusive, yet easily reached if wanted. This lodging is not for someone who cannot walk one half flight of steep steps since you have to climb a set to reach the toilet and kitchen; as perfectly shown in the photographs, so there should be no surprises there. The apartment is situated in a very desirable part of the city and quite convenient to excellent restaurants, pubs, and public transportation. I fully recommend Ellen and Caesar's home and cannot wait to return!
