Great location, very clean and cozy (once we turned on the heat), and easy check in and check out. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are nice, but one of the bedrooms has almost no light, which made it a difficult place to work. On the other hand, the difficulty of setting up the Roku tv did help with focusing on work. The kitchen is very nicely set up, and I appreciated the tea, coffee, and snacks that were provided. I wish the listing mentioned that there's no hair dryer provided, but the inclusion of the iron was nice. I'll definitely stay here again!

Our story is deeply rooted in 'Ya̱lis (Alert Bay). Jenna's grandfather, the late Gordon "Gordie" Peterson, was a true local icon who began his entrepreneurial journey here in 1969. Over his 94 years, he served as the Mayor and was a pillar of the community, known for his heart of gold and his unwavering commitment to the village. In 2018, we proudly took the reins of his company, Peterson Ventures Ltd., to ensure his 50+ year legacy of hospitality and community service continues to thrive.

Our hosting philosophy is to offer the perfect blend of professional comfort and personal connection. We've designed our properties as serviced apartments, meaning you get the privacy, space, and independence of a private home, combined with the essential comforts of a hotel, like quality linens and toiletries.

As virtual hosts, we've set everything up for a seamless self-check-in and an uninterrupted stay. We both work full-time jobs serving our community, so while we respect your privacy, we are always just a quick message or text away. We didn't just choose this neighborhood; it chose us. 'Ya̱lis (Alert Bay) is our ancestral home, a place where our family's roots run for countless generations as part of the ʼNa̱mǥis First Nation. What we love most is that our neighborhood is not a manufactured tourist town—it's a living, breathing community with a powerful sense of history and culture at every turn.

The scene here is breathtakingly wild. From our properties, you can watch eagles soar, fishing boats cross the Johnstone Strait, and sometimes even catch a glimpse of passing orcas, all against the backdrop of Vancouver Island's majestic mountains. The air is fresh, the ocean is a constant presence, and the pace of life is intentionally slower.

What we truly enjoy is the vibrant cultural landscape. This is the heart of the Kwakwa̱ka̱'wakw territories. You can feel it when you walk along the waterfront and see the towering totem poles, or when you visit the world-renowned U'mista Cultural Centre, which tells the profound story of our people's resilience and the return of our stolen treasures.
