Enjoy a peaceful stay at this historic Greek Revival house in Vicksburg. The lovely home is well furnished, featuring a king bed, a queen bed, and a daybed with a trundle, comfortably sleeping your whole group. With two and a half bathrooms, including one with a jetted bathtub, guests can unwind after a day of exploring. The house stays cozy with heating and cool with AC, making it perfect year-round. Whether you’re relaxing in the spacious living areas or screened porch or getting ready for the day with convenient essentials like a hair dryer, iron, and coffee making supplies, this charming retreat has you covered. Feel free to reach out to us during your stay—we live down the street and are happy to suggest local spots to check out. There's a lot to do that is walkable.

Please note that we are centrally located in a 200-year-old town. Our street is a dead end, so there is no through traffic, but there are homes, antebellum mansions, apartments, businesses, churches, and civic/cultural centers in the surrounding blocks. If you feel uncomfortable staying where there is not suburban uniformity—where there is diversity of people, activities, architectural styles, property uses, etc.—you may have a better experience elsewhere.
While we no longer allow children as this house isn't well suited to children. There is fine furniture and no child-friendly entertainments.

So far this house is our favorite VRBO. Great location, amazing house-loved everything about out. Check in and out was a easy, house was immaculate and the kitchen had everything we could need. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone visiting Vicksburg, especially if you're going for the history!

Everything was absolutely wonderful! The host is responsive and very helpful. The home is so very comfortable and not lacking for any amenities. The location is perfect for walking about and good restaurants (Walnut Hills is a must-go), and it was very quiet. It was immaculately clean, the beds are comfortable, and the kitchen was well-stocked with coffee essentials. We will be coming back very soon!

This home is beautiful. It was clean, & well stocked with bathroom amenities, & extra bedding if needed. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, & has everything needed for coffee. We stayed two nights, & felt right at home. We absolutely enjoyed ourselves. It is right downtown near restaurants, historic homes tour, & not far from all the history museums & the military park. John was very responsive, & answered any questions we had. If we ever make it back to Vicksburg, we would love to stay here again.

Enjoyed our stay, it was located perfectly for our activities. It was well stocked with paper goods, soaps, dishes, etc. We were only there for 2 nights and all went well.

This was one of the nicest vacation rentals I have ever stayed in! The house has beautiful appointments, comfortable beds, and excellent showers. The owner was responsive and helpful. The location is great for exploring Downtown Vicksburg.

This property is amazing in that it is so well preserved with a completely modern kitchen and bathrooms but still has the 1848 construction look to it. The convenience of up-to-date technologies like both traditional and 'c' USB ports, security system and very nice televisions make this a home-away-from-home accommodation. Add to that that nearly everything in Vicksburg is within 10-minute walking distance. The only attraction that requires driving is the National Battlefield (6- or 7-minute drive) and you would want your vehicle there anyway. Beds are comfortable, toiletries provided, with complementary coffee on the counter and cold water in the refrigerator. Vicksburg is a vacation gem hidden getaway with quiet safe streets, dozens of fascinating attractions and a very nice selection of restaurants. We stayed for 5 days and would have stayed a couple more given the time. Go and see for yourself, the TJ Harper House is the place to stay in beautiful and charming Vicksburg, MS!

The outside was humble but the interior was super nice. The rooms were tastefully decorated and the towels and linens were quality.Location was walking distance to numerous historical sites.Our host invited us to a private tour of a historical house he and his partner are renovating. They spent two hours showing us their project, it was the highlight of the week.

Really happy to find a clean, large space to stay that is dog friendly! The owner provided dog blankets and a food & water bowl. The backyard was large and reasonably fenced off - our dog is not an escape artist so it worked for us! So much space in the master bedroom, bathroom and kitchen! The master bath had a closet area that was cleared out & would be great space for a pack n play or travel crib. Very close to the restaurant we ate at downtown if it wasn’t raining we would’ve walked!

House was beautiful! Well appointed and very clean and comfortable. Great communication from the host, including wonderful restaurant recommendations. My only suggestion is for guests with dogs. They might reach out to chat with host about the fence. It was fine for our dogs, but might not be secure enough for escape artists.

John was very welcoming and helpful- a more gracious host you will not find. The house is really beautiful once you step into the front foyer. The house is unassuming outside but breathtaking inside. All details have been thought out. It is extremely close to all that downtown Vicksburg has to offer and is surrounded by historic buildings. An enormous oak tree stands between the house and sunrise--amazing. We were here for business but I assure you we will be back to enjoy this quaint home and town.

Probably one of the nicest historical properties we have stayed in. It was roomy with a master BR suite and a beautiful guest suite, plus a convenient powder room, a large fabulous kitchen, a sitting room that transported us back to the 19th century with the comfort and convenience of this century and a great family room to watch TV. It also had a laundry area and a back yard our dog loved to play frisbee in. It was nicely located and made our stay in Vicksburg very special and comfortable. We met John and had a lovely conversation with him about the property and an abundance of other topics. He was great, interesting and knowledgeable. High light of our trip by far!!!
