Our stay at the Bauer House was more than we hoped for. We enjoyed sitting outside and taking in the beautiful trees, listening to the birds, and soaking in just a bit of nature. Every detail of the home was cozy and perfect. We loved the decor, the comfort, and the overall setting.. inside and out! Thank you to Shelah and Alex for the obvious work you’ve put into the details of this home. We would definitely stay here again!

You may be curious about the unusual spelling and its significance. "Bauer" is derived from the German surname, now Bergbower, meaning “big hill farmer,” and you are correct in assuming that "Haus" translates to "house" in English.

I work on our family's third-generation grain farm located in Jasper County, Illinois. I keep busy in the spring and fall in the planter and combine. Outside of the farming, I enjoy spending time with our animals at home, and all sorts of crafts, weather it be woodworking, scrapbooking, or my newest endeavor of stain glass.

I have always possessed a passion and eye for design and architecture. One of my lifelong dreams has been to own and renovate a Victorian-era home, making the Bauer Haus an ideal setting for my aspirations. I sincerely hope you enjoy your stay and take full advantage of everything Jasper County has to offer.
