Great location, lovely host, and great value. The house could sleep 9, it is walking distance to Mambo beach, and just a short drive from Willemstad, even if you are doing west coast stuff it was 40-50 minute drive from beaches like Cas Aboa, Grote Knip, and such. The house had all the basics, and was clean. The pool was lovely to cool off. There is a side porch and outdoor shower to clean scuba or snorkel gear. The property owner was lovely to deal with and rented us a SUV (7 seater) for our stay. The neighborhood is lovely, and is located in a gated community. You do hear a lot of dogs barking at times but it’s not a deal breaker. You can just see the Punda Vibes fireworks from the upper deck. If you have accessibility issues, the spiral metal staircase to the two downstairs bedrooms or to the lower deck where the pool is located may be difficult. If you are a diver you are walking distance from a great dive site at Marie Pampoen beach as well.

The home itself is beautiful, especially the updated kitchen and outdoor area. The location was excellent — quiet gated community with a lovely ocean view.However, upon arrival we noticed the sofa had stains all over it, which was disappointing and immediately took away from the first impression. I contacted the host right away regarding the issue. While the home overall is nice, the living room furniture could definitely use updating, and the lower-level bedrooms could feel a bit more inviting.Another concern was the unexpected mention of paying for electricity usage. This requirement was communicated through a message from the host and included in the house book, but it was not disclosed anywhere in the original listing. Thankfully, after I raised the concern, the host apologized and did not charge us for electricity usage.Overall, we enjoyed the property, location, and amenities, but a few improvements and clearer upfront communication would make the experience much better.

Thank you for your review and for your kind words about the house, location, kitchen, and outdoor area. We’re very happy to hear that you overall had a good experience and enjoyed your stay. I do have to admit I was a little surprised to see the comments about the sofa, furniture, and electricity mentioned again in the review, as we discussed these points extensively during your stay and I immediately addressed the concerns. The sofa is indeed not brand new, but fortunately the situation was not as severe as described. I also explained at the time that a new sofa is already on its way, along with new beds for the downstairs bedrooms, as we are continuously improving and updating the villa. It is also important to mention that the rental price of the villa was partly based on the current condition and furnishings at the time of booking, which is reflected in the pricing compared to similar villas in the area. Regarding the electricity usage, this was indeed mentioned separately in several of my other listings, which is why I honestly assumed it was also clear here. Once you pointed out that it was not properly stated in this specific listing, I immediately apologized, updated the listing, and of course did not charge any electricity costs. Because this was resolved right away and discussed thoroughly in person, I was a bit surprised to see it mentioned again in the public review. Al meer dan 15 jaar mag ik met trots gasten ontvangen op meerdere fijne locaties bij op het eiland Wat begon als een passie is uitgegroeid tot mijn dagelijks werk, en dat voel je terug in alles wat ik doe.

Ik woon inmiddels al 30 jaar op het eiland en noem Curaçao echt mijn thuis. In die jaren heb ik het eiland van binnen en buiten leren kennen: van de bekende stranden en gezellige restaurants tot de verborgen parels die je niet in de reisgidsen vindt. Die kennis deel ik graag met mijn gasten, zodat zij Curaçao kunnen ervaren zoals de locals dat doen.

Gastvrijheid staat bij mij voorop. Ik vind het belangrijk dat je je hier meteen welkom en op je gemak voelt — of je nu komt om te ontspannen, het eiland te ontdekken of een speciale gelegenheid te vieren.
