Summary:
Visiting Mexico City for work or leisure? This is the ideal place. With an independent room and 2 single sofa-beds, this apartment makes the perfect spot to relax after enjoying the city. All windows face South with no immediate building interfering the magnificent view. On clear days you can see the Ajusco volcano at the far South of the city.
The apartment is located next to the heart of Polanco, the trendiest district in CDMX, close to the Chapultepec park and the great Anthropology Museum.
The Space:
This apartment is really well located. It is in front of the "Sanatorio Español", so if you are doing any kind of business with this institution, this is the place to stay. It has access to public transport (buses, mini-buses and metro).
Even though there is an AC installed, it does NOT work. The apartment does NOT have air conditioning! (almost no accommodation has in the city)
The Neighborhood:
Polanco is one of the best neighborhoods in Mexico City. It is full of restaurants, shops and great places and parks to relax. Whether you want a fancy restaurant, a coffee shop or a traditional ice cream, this is the place to be. Around "Parque Lincoln" (Lincoln Park or Clock Park) you will find all kind of places to enjoy your evening.
Not too far away are the districts of Condesa and Roma, two of the trendiest areas in Mexico City, with a hipster flavor.
Getting Around:
Getting around Mexico City could be challenging, but it is not that difficult. The usual public transportation includes:
Uber and cabify: App based transport is available in CDMX
Taxis: there are 2 types of taxis, regular taxis and "Stand Taxis" (or Taxis de sitio). We highly recommend taking the later since there might be some safety issues regarding the regular taxis, the ones you just stop at the street. The "Taxis de sitio" are located in specific places and they usually have a phone number, so you can just call them.
Buses and mini-buses: they follow specific routes although it is challenging to find it in advance. Asking the locals at the bus stop would be the best way to find out.
Metro (subway): efficient and fast if the lines cover your desired destination. The Polanco metro station is 10 min walk from the apartment.
Obviously, as any big city, rush hour can be complicated. Be prepared for lots of people using the transport!!!
Bicycles are becoming more and more popular. Two types of "public bikes" are available in the area: Ecobicis and Mobike allow you to pay for the day with credit card.
