We had a wonderful week! Owner was very kind and communicative all week. We had a great time using the pool, the hot tub, playing board games and eating meals at the giant table. We played games in the large backyard and went on bike rides. Only recommendation we have is the kitchen could use a complete set of measuring cups.

A complete set of measuring cups...done :-) ! Delighted these guests had a great week at our property despite it being a time of historic rainfall (and flooding nearby). In addition to the huge yard, badminton and volleyball courts on the property, and the pool, guests can augment an extended stay with excellent golf courses, a long bike ride on the Cardinal Greenway (or on the local country roads), nearby museums, a beautiful city park, a day trip to the National Museum of the Air Force (awesome) and movies at a two screen outdoor drive-in theater just east of town. Thanks Liesl! Great having you and your family enjoy our property!

The whole house was very clean, host’s Ted & Debbie were so nice and welcoming, we used the pool but not the hot tub and the kitchen was stocked with everything you would need! The rooms were very spacious and decorated, the game area was huge, and the yard was beautiful. We enjoyed the quiet and calm location. Thanks for making our stay so relaxing.

The house was wonderfully roomy and nice. we would’ve liked to have known better about which rooms had their own baths; Not all bedrooms had their own baths—some were shared or across the hall; the kitchen was very nice, and the huge dining room was wonderful for our big family group. We enjoyed the pool very much and the big yard and hot tub and sports courts. The host, Ted, was extremely good at communicating and welcoming.

Please note the Rooms and Baths section of the Overview page on VRBO details which rooms have ensuite baths. For clarity: Rooms 1,2,3,4 all have ensuite private baths. Room 6 (The Library) has a private bath across a small hallway. Room #5 has an ensuite bath with a lock-off feature (an entrance from both the room and from the theater/game room area) and is shared with room 5A, and with the guests (usually kids) sleeping in the extra beds in the theater/game room area. The executive suite is a 2 bedroom apartment with an ensuite bath shared by the 2 bedrooms in that apartment. That bath also has a separate (lockable) entrance off of a hallway adjacent to the swimming pool so that guests using the pool have ready access to a bathroom. Hope that helps clarify the bathroom situation for prospective guests :-)

This home was perfect for what we needed. There was plenty of space for our extended family of 28. The indoor pool was larger than I expected based on pictures, so it was great for keeping the kids busy. There was plenty of yard space for the kids to run and play games. There was a large table that fit most of us for meals! The hosts stay on the back of the property and are excellent with communication and willing to help quickly if an issue arrives!

Delighted to see this review. As a point of clarification, this property sits on nearly 6 acres and historically, we operated it as a Bed and Breakfast for many years. As the owners, we like to be available to assist our guests in any way possible. We have a private cottage and an RV located about a football field away from the patio where guests typically congregate placing us far enough away to provide guest privacy, but close enough to be available to assist with any issues or answer any questions. This was a beautiful home was enjoyed by all. The amenities are great, Walmart is right around the corner, the pool was warm and Ted was very welcoming. We were disappointed to learn that the hot tub had been closed early due to cold weather, but that don’t stop us from having a great time! We would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in renting their own “hotel” for a family/friend getaway!

It was necessary to close the hot tub which is outdoors. This winter season started early this year. 17" of snow so far and temperatures have dipped down to -3. Impossible to enjoy the hot tub under these conditions. But inside, the pool room is 80 degrees and the pool 84 degrees when guests opt for the additional winter pool heating fee. We may consider moving the hot tub indoors next year.

We have rented large reunion places before. This one looks better online than it was in person. Functionally everything worked, but the decor and furniture were highly dated, hence four stars instead of five. The cleanliness was OK except in the basement, which was very dusty. We had great conversations with the owner. He was very cooperative and easy to deal with. The one disappointment was the hot tub was not working. The pool however, was terrific.

We were disappointed to see this review. We strive for a highly satisfying experience for all of our guests. Regarding the dust in the basement, we recently added insulation and excapsulated the crawl space adjacent to the basement to enhance guest comfort. We regret that the dust specified must have been a result an incomplete cleanup from that project. We will have our cleaning team address the issue right away. Regarding the hot tub, we specify in the listing that the hot tub (outdoors) is not open during the winter. I can only assume that the guest must have missed that when reviewing the listing. This is the first time a guest has indicated to us that listing looked better than the property itself. Most of our guests have indicated the opposite giving us high praise for the condition of the property. I will be contacting this guest for specifics regarding the furniture and decor comments and strive to address any other issues.

House and backyard is huge! We absolutely enjoyed being outdoors with the kids, the indoor pool came in clutch while the weather was in the cooler side during our stay. Ted was readily available and provided clear communication.

We had a wonderful, memorable stay. Communication about expectations for guests was easy. I appreciated the couple hours earlier than normal check in time since our son was arriving from his college about an hour away. There is plenty of space for a big group and despite the colder than average Thanksgiving weather, part of our group was playing Ultimate Frisbee in the back yard and having that open space to play was great. The indoor pool was nice and warm. What a joy for our large family to all be under one roof for Thanksgiving. Thank you, Ted and Debbie.

This was our 2nd Extended Family Weekend at the Winchester Property. Plenty of activities for everyone plus some positive property improvements. Would stay again and recommend. Host is very responsive and communicates well.

Great property, beautiful yard & setting, lots of space to spread out

Lots of rooms & area to spread out (there were 22 of us!). Giant dining table for family meals and games. Beautiful large backyard with a fire pit. And an indoor pool. All which made for a great family reunion week.

50th Anniversary Gathering

We wanted a location to gather our whole family of 40 to celebrate our 50th anniversary and this fit the bill exactly. Far enough away from home to feel removed but close enough for reasonable travel. The owner was VERY responsive to an issue that popped up and took care of it immediately.

The comfort of our guests is of paramount importance to us. The issue referenced was caused by a new continuous water heater installation error. We corrected the issue within an hour. We pride ourselves on being responsive to the needs of our guests and encourage guests to let us know right away if there is anything we can do to help make their stay more enjoyable.

Ted is a graduate of Ball State University with a B.S. is Telecommunications and a Business Administration Minor. In addition to directing activities at the Inn, Ted and daughter Kiera - an Indiana University graduate founded Uncharted Pixels LLC - a web services, branding, and video production services company.. Debbie manages the housekeeping functions making sure the cleaning team work is done properly amd the home is up to her exacting standards of cleanliness and comfort. She was awarded the Hoosier Hospitality award by Indiana's Lieutenant Governor!

Debbie attended Indiana University East in Richmond and has worked in the healthcare, childcare, and social services fields during her career.

After living near Chicago, St. Louis, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Cincinnati, We purchased this property to get back to our Hoosier roots near the Whitewater River valley. Both Ted and Debbie were born in Richmond just 25 minutes south of the property. Winchester is a great little town brimming with family values, lots of churches, nearby shopping, and close to our family.

With six park-like acres, 3 fireplaces, and an indoor pool and outdoor hot tub, a conference room that seats 20, separate formal dining room that seats 6-8, a nice patio with seating for large groups, outdoor fire pit, and nearly 6 park-like acres, this property has everything you are looking for in a family reunion or retreat destination!. This home has something for everyone!. The older folks can sit by the living room fire or on the patio and have great conversation while the kids enjoy the pool or the theater/game room. The teenagers can play volleyball and badminton on the east lawn while the guys head over to the award winning 27 hole golf course and the ladies go antique shopping. We have a game closet filled with board games and playing cards. Free WIFI is available throughout the property and most rooms have 4K TVs with HDMI connections. The winery tours are a great option with live entertainment on some summer evenings. Fishing is available in the nearby towns of Farmland, Richmond, and Muncie. The historic Winchester Speedway "the worlds fastest half mile" is 10 minutes away offering pulse pounding high banked auto racing and Eldora Speedway (about 45 minutes) offers awesome dirt track racing in the summer. Take a day and enjoy the Antique Alley trails for great shopping and don't forget to stop by Silvertowne for a unique gift shopping experience in Winchester. But you may never want to leave the property. This is truly a great family home with all we have to offer on the premises! Perfect for reunions and large family gatherings.
