Hayna, which is part of Herxheim, has a population of about 1,300. For centuries, the village was shaped by agriculture, and its wide village street, lined with stately half-timbered houses and tobacco drying sheds, still bears witness to a certain level of prosperity today.

What makes the village’s appearance unique are its tobacco sheds, which encircle the village center like a city wall.

The surrounding countryside is flat and offers excellent, well-maintained bike paths all the way to Alsace or through seas of vineyards to the Palatinate Forest. Along these well-maintained paths, wine taverns and inns invite you to stop and rest.

The Southern Palatinate, with its pleasant climate, is blessed with plenty of sunshine.
It is also known as the “Tuscany of Germany.”
