Rosa Blume Vacation Home:
An extraordinary property:
A restoration in accordance with historic preservation guidelines of a historic row house from 1764 in what was once a settlement for craftsmen and day laborers; see Wikipedia entry for “Blume Hann. Münden.”
A rustic atmosphere in the midst of exposed clay half-timbering, featuring a “Knight’s Room,” a “Kemenate,” a gallery, and an alcove. Cozy comfort in the half-timbered house on old wooden floorboards by a modern pellet stove with a campfire-like glow and infrared heat. Yet this house, only 4.5 m wide on a plot of the same width, proves to be a space-saving marvel with approximately 114 m² spread over 3 residential floors (+ uninsulated roof and flood-proof basement), including a quiet inner courtyard and balcony, shaded by the house’s north-facing orientation and never too warm. Expensive bicycles can be stored safely and dry in the hallway or in the shed.
Please note: Steep stairs between the three living floors! (Not suitable for small children or those with mobility issues.)
The third floor, featuring two additional bedrooms/living rooms and a small bathroom/toilet, is opened as needed (for groups of three or more overnight guests).
The standard package does not include meals, but “Bed and Bread” is available by arrangement: seasonal products made in-house, including rye sourdough bread, jam, cheese, yogurt, and muesli. For self-caterers, a fully equipped kitchen is available with a stove and convection oven, a capsule coffee machine, tea and a kettle, a refrigerator, and a dishwasher (including tabs), as well as, of course, dishes, cutlery, and pots.
Cyclists welcome: The host is an active road cyclist as well as a mountain biker and motorcyclist. He has knowledge of local routes, expertise, and, if needed, tools for maintaining your bikes. The house is located directly on the Tour de Energy public road race route, the major public road cycling race in Göttingen.
This project aimed to make a 255-year-old historic building—on a limited budget—usable for the next generation, thereby preserving it in a meaningful way. This created a concrete example of sustainable construction and the conscious, careful use of our resources, ensuring that the building can stand for another 250 years. The house has been sustainably renovated and brought up to modern technical standards—largely through our own efforts over more than two years—in compliance with historic preservation regulations: gas condensing central heating, pellet stove, circulating hot-water system, and fully furnished.
If anything is missing, I’ll take care of it. While it’s not a museum, respectful living is expressly desired!
