A beautiful, newly renovated vacation home right on the Danube and just outside the city limits of Regensburg. Perfect for a vacation with the whole family or with friends.

The exterior, designed in the style of a Pre-Alpine chalet, gives little hint of the size and modern simplicity of the interior.

The house, which is over 100 years old and has a living area of approximately 240 square meters, is situated directly on the Danube and along the Ulm–Vienna Danube Cycle Path, on a property of approximately 3,000 square meters in the heart of a protected landscape area.

Until recently, the house housed a roadside restaurant called “Schwalbennest”; in 2021–2022, it was completely renovated and converted into the “Schwalbennest Vacation Home.” The guesthouse features 6 bedrooms, a large living/dining area with a TV and electric fireplace, as well as a fully equipped kitchen and three bathrooms. 

The garden, located directly next to the house, was once a traditional Bavarian beer garden. The approximately 100-year-old chestnut trees and a large linden tree provide a shady, pleasant atmosphere even in the height of summer. Nevertheless, sun worshippers will also find plenty to enjoy. Right behind the garden fence lies Bavaria’s oldest nature reserve (Max-Schultze-Steig), featuring magnificent hiking trails and ideal bike routes.

Even on days with inclement weather, the view of the Danube with its interesting boat traffic offers plenty of entertainment to keep boredom at bay.

The World Heritage city of Regensburg, with its countless cultural attractions (e.g., the House of Bavarian History), sightseeing opportunities (e.g., the historic old town), Danube river cruises, and sports activities, can be reached by car or bike in just a few minutes. The area around the “Schwalbennest” was designated a World Heritage Site in 2021 as part of the “Roman Limes.”
