Stone-built houses Azalas, very quiet, directly by the beach, with fireplace

On the quiet east side of Naxos we rent four cottages built in the traditional way of natural stone for 2-4 persons each. Here you can relax and unwind and immerse yourself in the Greek way of life. Each cottage, with a total of 60 square meters, has its own veranda with a magnificent view of the Aegean Sea. The house is divided with a curtain into a sleeping area with a double bed and a living area with kitchenette, natural stone fireplace and pull-out sofa bed; the bathroom is furnished with marble tiles and shower. Between the houses lies an additional shared kitchen with wood stove and an electrical stove with oven. There is a washing machine that can be used by guests. You can spend the hot hours of the day in a vine-covered, shady pergola; in the evenings you can enjoy the magnificent starry sky of the Aegean. The Meltemi North winds, which blow almost constantly in summer, usually keep the temperatures relatively low. At the beach directly in front of the property or at one of the many other beaches in the area you can have a refreshing swim and enjoy the water and the sun.
The cottages are located on a property of 7000 square meters with vineyards, olive trees and vegetable gardens, from which we are happy to provide our guests with our organically grown vegetables and fruits, depending on the possibilities of the season; you can also taste our homemade delicious wine.
Directly in front of the property lies a small, very clean and quiet sandy beach, where you can also enjoy snorkeling and discover the diverse underwater world of the Aegean sea.
If you like hiking, you can explore the diverse, charming island of Naxos on many old paths and visit numerous interesting sights. We will be happy to help you with information about the history, archaeology, folklore, geology and the fauna and flora of the island. Let yourself be enchanted by the beautiful island of Dionysus!

I’m sitting here at home with a smile on my face as I recall the few days we spent at this lovely home, because it is a home, Astrid’s home, her family’s home and they welcome you to share it. Words cannot describe the peacefulness of the place. It is so quiet and beautiful. I would sit up at night looking up at the multitude of stars with only the sound of the lapping of the waves or perhaps the quiet conversation of another family staying in one of the four guest cottages. As the morning sun rises it shines into your windows casting a beautiful glow on everything. It is magical. It is peaceful. It is heaven. If you want a big TV on the wall… go somewhere else. There is AC but the fans provide a lovely flow of air along with the ocean breeze. I suggest stopping in Chora for some breakfast and perhaps lunch groceries. Astrid provides a small fridge and pour over coffee maker as well as a stove top espresso maker so you can enjoy coffee before your morning swim, just a short walk down the dirt road. Moutsouna is about 2 kilometers away with a few tavernas along the harbor for a nice dinner. Apanemi was our favorite for food and service.

Wow amazing stay

We were looking for a remote area, not full of tourists and this place nailed it. The stone buildings were beautiful and the views were phenomenal. You’re right on a small cliff with access to the water, which is crystal clear. Beautiful sunrises daily. The real gems were the hosts! They delivered fresh strawberries, vegetables and eggs on our patio daily. They also provided us with homemade wine. The best part….on our last night they invited us to their house (along with a few other guests) for a home cooked goat and potatoes meal. WOW. IT WAS DELICIOUS. I can’t say enough about this place and the hosts. I would highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for something away from tourists with beautiful surroundings and quiet accommodations.

Complete relaxation

My partner and I moved from busy accommodation on the other side of the island in search of peace and quiet, we found it at Azalas cottages. Astrid and Nikos are very warm and welcoming hosts, the oven warm loaf of bread and homemade wine was an immediate sign of their dedication to ensuring their guests enjoy their stay. We are already planning to visit next year and enjoy our private cove..

Amazing retreat!

We loved our days at this beautiful property! An opportunity to experience a quieter, more authentic side of Greece, and Astrid and her family were fabulous hosts. Wonderful stay

Thanks to Astrid and Nikos for their great generosity and hospitality. During our stay they provided fresh vegetables from their garden and excellent home-made bread cooked by Nikos. The house was very functional and confortable and we could go directly in 2 min to the little beach which is paradisiac with turquoise water. I highly recommend this house.

Amazing piece of paradise!

This was truly an amazing stay, Astrid makes things so easy and delicious. We had fresh vegetables from their garden and homemade bread that was incredible, more than we could even eat! The location is remote, in the most ideal way. You will often have your choice of tiny private beaches all to yourself. Great hiking and local cafes are nearby, too. The houses are clean, well appointed, and very comfortable. Highly recommend, and we will be back!

A wonderful retreat!

Our family of three spent five nights in this special place. The cottages are beautiful handcrafted stone works of art with private patios offering ocean views. The surrounding property had beautiful trees and gardens. Astrid and her husband are kind and generous hosts, sharing homemade bread, vegetables from their garden, and knowledge of the local area. There are many nice beaches along the coast to enjoy, including one across the street. I hope we are lucky enough to return!

Super séjour avec des hôtes très sympathiques

Nous avons passé presque une semaine chez Astrid. Le lieu est magique avec vue sur la mer, accès à de superbes petites criques, grande cuisine collective (en plus des petites cuisines individuelles). Idéal pour nos vacances à plusieurs familles en même temps. On a pu visiter Naxos depuis ce coin de paradis. Et on s’est régalé avec les légumes, fruits et le pain fait maison offerts par nos hôtes tous les jours. Sans parler du repas qu’ils ont partagé avec nous (viande et légumes cuits au four à bois). On recommande vivement !!

Ein traumhaftes Ferienhaus direkt am Meer

Der Aufenthalt war wirklich einzigartig und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Ferienhaus ist sehr schön eingerichtet, mit einer gut ausgestatteten Küche. Astrid und Nikos haben uns mit frischem Obst und Gemüse und köstlichem Brot versorgt - alles aus eigener Fertigung. Den direkten Blick auf das Meer haben wir von der schönen Terrasse genossen. Das Ferienhaus liegt direkt am Meer und die einsame kleine Bucht bietet eine tolle Bademöglichkeit um in den Tag zu starten. Das Haus liegt in ruhiger Lage. Das nächste Dorf, Moutsouna, ist ca. 2km entfernt und hat sehr schöne Tavernen, einen gut ausgestatteten Mini-Markt sowie weitere tolle Badestrände. Wir haben die Gegend sehr genossen und unseren Aufenthalt spontan verlängert. Gerade der Osten der Insel - fern vom großen Tourismus - ist mit den Bergen und den unberührten Stränden sehr empfehlenswert. Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt, vielen Dank für Eure Gastfreundschaft, liebe Astrid, lieber Nikos. Wir kommen gerne noch einmal…

Blissful Greek experience

From beginning to end, our experience at Astrid’s property was unbelievable. The cottage is absolutely gorgeous and you can see the Aegean over the top of grape vines in front of the terrace. Quiet side of the Island

The accommodations were clean and as presented on the Vrbo site. We enjoyed our stay and complimentary bread, wine, and vegetables. I would note that the local restaurants were quite expensive compared to those in Naxo city.

Idyllisch gelegene Ferienwohnungen abseits vom Trubel

Toller Urlaub! Die Ferienwohnungen sind praktisch eingerichtet und liegen in einer wunderschönen Bucht. In wenigen Minuten ist man am Strand. Unsere Gastgeber waren herzlich und haben uns mit frischem Gemüse, Wein und selbst gebackenem Brot versorgt. Durch die abgelegene Lage, ist ein Mietauto unbedingt notwendig. Dann lassen sich aber traumhafte Bergdörfer erkunden und herrlische Wanderungen unternehmen.

Heaven! The highlight of our trip!

We spent a week staying in one of these beautiful cottages near Moutsouna - it was truly wonderful and we highly recommend this place to anyone looking for peace, beauty and tranquillity. The traditional stone cottages are spacious and each one has a large shady terrace and breathtaking views of the ocean. There is a small secluded beach immediately below the property with crystal clear water. The cottages are arranged so each one has total privacy and the gardens are landscaped with mature fruit trees and vines. It's a truly gorgeous place. Astrid and Nikkos are amazing hosts; very welcoming, helpful and generous. They helped to make our stay very special. The accommodation is situated on the more remote side of Naxos - it is very scenic with little development. (We had spent the previous week on the other side of Naxos near Plaka beach which was also lovely but we all much preferred this quieter side of the island). The accommodation is about a kilometre out of the small pretty village of Moutsouna which has a few charming traditional tavernas clustered around a small harbour. We went there a few times for an evening meal or sunset drink. There is also a decent shop in Moutsouna where you can buy fresh food for self catering (we visited in August but I understand it is not open all year round). The shop gets fresh bread at 1pm everyday. We are a family of four with 9 and 12 year old and the cottages were a very good size for us - they are generously proportioned and the kitchens are well equipped. About 8 km south of Moutsouna there is also a long sandy beach at Kanaki where we did a lot of body boarding. It's a beautiful undeveloped beach and was almost deserted when we were there. All in all, this is a very special place and we will definitely be back!

Paradise

If you like quiet beauty this is the place to go! It is even more beautiful than on the pictures. The hosts are the best landlords we ever had. We were pampered with fresh vegetables and bread every other day. Just wonderful.

Excellent location for those who want a remote peaceful vacation.

We had a very nice stay with everything we needed. Astrid is a wonderful host and we had no issues during our stay. This is a remote location with beautiful oceanfront setting. A car is a necessity for groceries , restaurants and exploring. Highly recommend if you want seclusion.

Idyllic setting

We had a wonderful week at Azalas - stunning views, lovely little beach and close to fab Moutsouna village - great tavernas and town beach - a little tucked away gem. Amazing to be away from it all in Greece in the middle of August.

Fantastisch huis op een fantastisch plek

Het huis is gelegen op het minder toeristische gedeelte van het eiland. Met de auto ben je in 10 minuten in een leuk klein dorpje waar je wat kunt eten en drinken. Je krijgt hier het echte Griekse leven mee. Wij hebben genoten van het huis en het uitzicht op de zee. De zee is 1 minuut lopen en leuk om in te zwemmen en te snorkelen. De gastvrijheid van de eigenaren was geweldig. We kwamen begin van de avond aan en werden gelijk uitgenodigd om mee te eten. Het werd voor ons een memorabele avond, erg gezellig en erg lekker. Wij komen graag een keer terug. Nogmaals bedankt!

Herrlich entspannend

Die aus Naturmaterialien (Stein, Marmor, Holz) errichteten Häuser sind einfach, aber durchdacht ausgestattet. Wunderschöne Lage direkt oberhalb einer kleinen Bucht zum Baden und Schnorcheln. Da Geschäfte nur mit dem Auto zu erreichen sind, muss man Einkäufe ein wenig planen. Dieser kleine Umstand wird aber mehr als aufgewogen durch die Herzlichkeit der Gastgeber. Vielen Dank - wir kommen gerne wieder!
