Artisan House in Town: An insider’s tip on the outskirts of Dresden, Saxon Switzerland, and Upper Lusatia: A world of art and craftsmanship—the “Langenwolmsdorf Artisan House.” Here, spread across two three-sided courtyards, you’ll find permanent exhibitions and sales, a demonstration workshop and creative center, a Christmas house, a spring house, a treasure trove, a craft shop, a toy store, a florist, a children’s playground, and a petting zoo, as well as a three-story dining experience featuring a beer garden and an ice cream garden. The Artisans’ House is a daily destination for many tourists! In Langenwolmsdorf, it’s popularly known as the “Las Vegas of Langenwolmsdorf” because of its many lights, which are especially charming during the Advent and Christmas seasons.

The castle town of Stolpen and Saxon Switzerland: In addition to the world’s deepest well driven into basalt, a visit to the castle offers insight into the fate of Countess Cosel, the most famous mistress of Augustus the Strong, who was exiled here for 49 years. Remains of the city wall and the arch of an 18th-century city gate bear witness to times gone by. The winding alleys that crisscross this town offer a touch of old-world romance and make Stolpen particularly worth seeing. The Saxon Switzerland National Park offers hiking and climbing enthusiasts many opportunities and breathtaking views, both near and far. But even those who don’t want to undertake long hikes or climbing tours will be captivated by the beauty of the landscape and take home special memories.
