Originally built in 1894 as Staunton’s famed Racket Store, the building has been thoughtfully transformed into a sophisticated penthouse retreat that blends historic character with minimalist modern design. Accessed through a private rear courtyard entrance, the penthouse opens into an expansive loft-style space that feels both elevated and inviting.

The original open floor plan, made possible by cast iron columns and structural iron beams, creates a dramatic setting unlike anything else in downtown Staunton. Soaring ceilings, polished yellow pine floors, oversized windows overlooking East Beverley Street, curated artwork, designer lighting, and clean architectural lines create a refined atmosphere filled with natural light and timeless character.

Designed for gathering and entertaining, the Hammond Penthouse features a chef inspired kitchen with premium appliances, expansive dining and lounge areas, a custom bar, and thoughtfully curated spaces for relaxing after a day exploring Staunton and the Shenandoah Valley.

Please note that the Hammond Penthouse is located in an active downtown setting. Weekend evenings and special events may bring increased activity nearby, though the sleeping areas are positioned away from the main street for added comfort.

Access to the penthouse requires climbing stairs, as there is no elevator in the building. Guests should be comfortable navigating stairs during their stay.
