A spacious cabin on Wilson Ranch in Mazama, built around a vaulted great room with floor-to-gable glass walls framing Goat Wall, Driveway Butte, and the North Cascades beyond. Sleeps 10 across three king bedrooms, plus a bunk room with a queen pull-out sofa and twin bunks above. Outside, a barrel sauna sits among the trees, with a gas fire pit and grill. Lake access a short walk away and the Methow Community Trail passes nearby.
The Space:
Elsie's Hut is laid out in two wings off a central great room, with entry through a breezeway between the garage and house. Located on Mazama's Wilson Ranch property, the home features a freestanding wood stove, a stone-topped kitchen island, and mountain or woodland views from every room. The Methow Community Trail passes close by, with ski-in, ski-out access onto the wider Methow Valley trail network.
Both wings run along corridors lined with built-in seating and storage, doubling as cozy reading nooks. The south wing leads to a king guest bedroom, a bathroom with shower, and a bunk room with a queen sofa-bed, twin bunks above, and a TV with Xbox. The north wing holds a second king guest bedroom, another bathroom with shower, and the primary king suite with windows on three sides and a built-in desk space. Three full bathrooms in total.
The kitchen and great room share a single open volume at the heart of the home, rising into a vaulted ceiling of exposed timber trusses and tongue-and-groove cedar, with floor-to-gable glass walls at both ends framing meadow, woodland, and mountain views. The lounge area is anchored by a sectional sofa, swivel chairs, and the wood stove. The kitchen runs along the island with seating for four, with a gas range, pot filler, patterned tile backsplash, oven, dishwasher, microwave, and full cookware. Coffee setup includes a drip maker with grinder and filters, plus an instant espresso maker. A Bluetooth speaker rounds out the living area. Central air conditioning and heated floors throughout, with fans in three of four bedrooms (all but the bunk room). WiFi is MethowNet fixed wireless at approximately 30 Mbps, reliable for streaming and video calls.
Outside, sliding glass doors at both ends of the great room open to patios front and rear, for indoor-outdoor living at scale. The rear patio holds the grill and outdoor dining table, and the front patio has seating and a gas fire pit looking out at Goat Wall, Driveway Butte, and the North Cascades beyond: possibly the best views in Mazama. A barrel sauna sits among the trees.
The Neighborhood:
Wilson Ranch Road sits in the Freestone area of Mazama, a quiet residential enclave along Early Winters Creek. The Freestone Inn and Jack's Hut is a short walk (check if restaurants are currently operating), and guests have access to the communal pool and hot tub at the Inn. Two designated lake beaches (North and South) on the stocked Freestone Lake are open for swimming, with fishing allowed using barbless hooks only. The Methow Community Trail is accessible nearby for cross-country skiing in winter and hiking and cycling in summer.
