Small, narrow, lovingly renovated half-timbered house in the heart of Waldhessen

Our lovingly restored, approximately 70-square-meter half-timbered house has been freshly renovated and features a new built-in kitchen. It is located on the three-sided Eckens farmstead between Bad Hersfeld and Eisenach. It’s just a 10-minute drive from the highway exit.

We love animals! We have 4 dogs and 5 cats on our property. That’s why we provide—especially for our guests with dogs—an approximately 1,000 m² fenced-in outdoor area, which is just a few steps away across the courtyard. We also provide poop bags, food and water bowls, a basket or pillow, and blankets for every four-legged friend.

In the land of the “White Mountains,” there are numerous opportunities for hiking or walking.
Discover the surrounding area. Find peaceful spots, enjoy countless hiking trails, or visit nearby towns hosting events such as the Bad Hersfeld Festival or the Wartburg Castle in Eisenach—or use us as a starting point for interesting day trips.

Restaurants and shopping are just a short drive away in the neighboring towns.

The basic amenities include bed linens, towels, and soap.

We strive to set everything up just as we’d like to find it ourselves. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, stovetop, oven, microwave, coffee pod machine, and a refrigerator with a freezer compartment. In the second bedroom, we can offer two additional sleeping spots on a pull-out sofa bed.

This traditionally designed house once belonged to my great-grandparents and is therefore also called “Grandma Rie’s House.” Among the older villagers, it’s still known as “Eckens Marie.” During the restoration, we were able to uncover some well-preserved wall paintings (which were used back then instead of wallpaper to decorate the walls) in the lower and upper hallways.
We’ve tried to blend the old with the new to make your stay with us as enjoyable as possible.
