Neighborhood description
The Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park, an UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, is within walking distance—just 1.9 km away. Our natural swimming spot, Everschopsiel, is 4.6 km away. Here, you can swim during a three-hour window starting three hours before high tide and ending three hours after high tide. We call this historic swimming spot Tetenbüll-Spieker. The path there runs directly along the seashore, ideal for bike rides or hikes with a view of the North Sea. We live in a bird sanctuary and have nature right on our doorstep. That’s why there are no disruptive wind turbines or solar farms here. Instead, in Eiderstedt, the lighthouses and navigation marks in the North Sea flash in the distance. The photos are from the immediate vicinity, and these locations are within walking distance.
Getting Around Near the Accommodation
A call-and-ride bus stops right outside the front door. A regular bus to Husum is 1.6 km away, and the train station is 10 km away. The call-and-ride bus connects the surrounding villages of the Eiderstedt region with the train stations and the spa town of Sankt Peter-Ording. The on-demand bus provides direct access to the beach and the Dünentherme spa in Sankt Peter-Ording. The on-demand bus is also ideal for bike tours to explore our beautiful countryside. The historic cultural landscape of Eiderstedt is also known as the “Land of Artists and Churches.”
There’s plenty to discover here—just ask me and take advantage of the 49-euro ticket.
The Halligen and islands right on our doorstep are perfect for day trips. The “Storm City” of Husum, with its beautiful harbor and great movie theaters; the “Rum City” of Flensburg; and the largest medieval trading center—the Viking settlement of Haithabu near Schleswig—are all just a short distance from us.
And for those who want to explore other countries and seas, Denmark and the Baltic Sea are just an hour’s drive away. I’d be happy to give you some tips on that.
If you have any questions about cats, dogs, additional children, places to smoke, RVs, the Low German language, or any other requests, just contact me.
I charge a flat fee of three euros each for using the washing machine and dryer.
I’m an easygoing Frisian marsh dweller (I live in the marshes) and have plenty of space around the house, including a small forest. It’s perfect if you ever want to hide out. ;-)
