Swimming is possible at the shallow, child-friendly beach and from the jetty at Dümmer Lake, as well as boat trips and fishing excursions by rowboat. However, the beautiful surroundings are best explored by hiking, cycling, or inline skating. An almost 15 km long, first-class cycle path leads directly from Dümmer to Wittenburg, where you'll also find an adventure park with a climbing garden, an indoor ski slope, and a quad and go-kart track. The state capital, Schwerin, with its magnificent castle complex, is also definitely worth a visit.
