We never planned to rent out a holiday cottage.

We were simply looking for a place where we could escape the busyness of everyday life and truly unwind.

The moment we drove onto the grounds of Quinta dos Lagares, we looked at each other and knew immediately: this is it. This is our place.

To our surprise, the property also included a charming cottage. That’s when the idea was born. What if we could share this special place and this feeling of peace with others?

Today, that’s exactly what we love to do. We welcome guests who are looking for the same thing we were searching for: a place to slow down, reconnect with nature and simply be.

eople often ask us why we chose Central Portugal.

We weren’t looking for the busiest tourist destination. We were searching for the authentic Portugal – a place where local traditions are still part of everyday life, where villages have kept their character, and where nature takes centre stage.

During our travels, we sometimes found ourselves sitting on terraces where the menus were available in several languages, including Dutch. While that’s perfect for many travellers, we realised we were looking for something different: a place where Portugal still feels truly Portuguese.

That’s exactly what we found here.

The rolling green hills, ancient forests, crystal-clear rivers and charming villages create a sense of peace that captured our hearts from the very first moment.

Our cottage is surrounded by nature, with both sunny spots and cool shade beneath the trees. A beautiful river flows along the edge of the property, inviting you to take a refreshing swim on warm summer days. Hidden on the grounds, you’ll even discover a small waterfall.

Every part of the property has its own character. One moment you’re relaxing in the sunshine with a good book, the next you’re listening to birdsong beneath the trees or taking a refreshing dip in the river.

Although you’ll feel completely immersed in nature, the cottage offers all the comforts you need for a relaxing stay.

One of the things our guests appreciate most is the perfect balance between peace and convenience. You’ll feel as though you’re miles away from everything, yet the lively town of Tábua is only a 5-minute drive away, where you’ll find supermarkets, cafés, restaurants and everything you need for a comfortable stay.
