Sandy beach and swimming area / Access to the Wadden Sea
The Sahlenburg sandy beach and swimming area is a 15–20-minute walk from the vacation home. This access point also serves as the entrance to the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site / National Park at low tide. On sunny days, the beach is perfect for sunbathing, splashing around, and swimming, while on rainy days you can explore the mudflats and their inhabitants. About 3 hours before low tide, you can see many horse-drawn carriages and individual horses entering the mudflats at the access point.
Sahlenburg Heath
Just a few meters’ walk from our vacation home, you’ll find the Sahlenburg Heath, featuring a nature trail and a viewing platform.
Wernerwald
Right in town, the Wernerwald stretches all the way to the beach. Especially on warm days, we recommend taking the walking path through the Wernerwald to the beach.
Dog Beach / Dog Off-Leash Area
The Sahlenburg dog beach is a must-visit for all dog owners. This is where all dog owners meet up with their four-legged friends. After a visit to the beach, dogs can romp to their hearts’ content in the huge off-leash area. There’s also a dog washing station there. The walk there takes about 25–30 minutes.
