Surroundings:
Located on a quiet street on the outskirts of Tanne, our Harzhaus Drei Hexen offers the perfect setting for a relaxing vacation or outdoor activities in nature.
Hiking trails begin right at the end of the street, and in winter, cross-country ski trails await skiing enthusiasts. The nearby villages also offer countless hiking opportunities throughout the Harz Mountains. Here, you can enjoy spectacular rock formations—such as the Teufelsmauer—and unique views. Those with strong legs might even choose to hike the 17 km to the Brocken on foot.
For everyone else, the town of Schierke—a popular starting point for hikes to the Brocken—is just a 15-minute drive away. Braunlage, with its ski slopes on the Großer Wurmberg, is also just as close. The area also offers excellent conditions for mountain bikers.
You can hop on the popular Harz narrow-gauge railway right in the neighboring town of Sorge (1 km away). Also nearby are the cave town of Rübeland, where you can marvel at the underground world of the Harz Mountains, and the Rappbode Dam, which invites you to go hiking, canoeing, and enjoy “Harz Adrenaline” adventures featuring a suspension bridge or zipline.
Thanks to its central location in the heart of the Harz Mountains, this is the perfect starting point for excursions into nature, to special attractions, and to nearby towns and cities such as Wernigerode with its medieval castle, Bad Lauterberg, or Quedlinburg (30 and 40 minutes by car, respectively). Thale, with its famous Hexentanzplatz, is also just over half an hour away by car.
