Dear Venesse. So sorry to hear that you found the steps too hard to manage, though we are glad you were otherwise comfortable staying in the villa. (Clarah, our manager and housekeeper who checked you in, thought you were absolutely delightful guests, by the way!) We do clearly describe the steps near the start of the property description in the online posting, so it is unfortunate you seem not to have spotted that when booking the villa. (It was also a factor we consider when determining the rental charge). In the online posting we describe the climb as the equivalent of 3 storeys in vertical height (3x 22 steps per storey) and while some may not mind a light workout when on holiday, it is indeed not suitable for guests who are elderly and/or have medical issues.

The steps are equivalent to three stories in elevation (two stories from street level to pool, and one from pool level to house). This has the positive side-effect of providing a higher level of privacy, and also acts as a natural deterrent to potentially 'unwanted visitors' (in addition the existing alarm system), which might partly explain Sun Lion's lack of crime history in the 20 years I have owned it. Despite the 'advantages' of the steps, they are also the reason I offer the house at reasonable rates in comparison to other Camps Bay properties, and without them, the view would not be so spectacular from the top!

Hi Kathryn, Thanks for the review and comments. Shame you didn't reach out to Clarah about the lightbulbs and lanterns, because we normally keep extra bulbs in store for when they need replacement, and if the reserves are low or exhausted, she has a kitty to spend to replenish reserves. She just needs to be informed. Likewise, if you had let her know you needed to use the tumble dryer, she would have given you access, as it is under lock and key in the pool room under the deck and is normally used for bedclothes during changeovers. To maintain your privacy, all your queries and requests can easily be communicated to her via WhatsApp text. We're glad you enjoyed your stay. Best Regards, Anthony.

It will be too late for you to benefit now, but right after your visit we had the entire property fumigated, and we will continue to do so at regular intervals whenever the villa is empty for any length of time to keep that that problem at bay for future guests, and for you too if you decide to return another day!
