Our detached vacation home is located in the recreational forest of a nearby small town and offers a combination of peace and relaxation in nature, surrounded by tall trees. The house has an overgrown garden and gives the impression that you’re visiting relatives. Despite the rustic decor, you won’t have to sacrifice any of the usual comforts. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you need for your stay.
This house is more than just a place to stay—it’s my childhood home. My father built a large part of it with his own hands. No, he wasn’t a gifted craftsman, but a forester—and you can tell. His signature style is evident in many corners: rustic, made with a lot of heart, but not always perfect. His favorite material—which is impossible to miss—was wood. Untreated wood. It doesn’t always hold up as well as one might like.
The house’s interior is nothing like the glossy pages of *Schöne Wohnen*, but it tells stories. Stories of a life lived. Family photos hang on the walls, and if you look closely, you’ll spot me with the teddy bear I received for my first birthday. The furniture is functional, but by no means modern. You could describe it more as having a certain morbid charm.
The house is fully furnished—though, as mentioned, not in a modern style. Rather, it feels as if you’re visiting your grandparents or distant relatives in the countryside. And that’s exactly what we want: for you to feel welcome and at home.
There are a few things we’d like to be honest with you about beforehand:
The house stands in the middle of the forest beneath tall trees. Many of them are large beech trees that let very little light through in the summer. As a result, there are days when it seems quite dark—especially when it rains. Nature is our constant companion—and that goes for its smaller inhabitants, too. Despite our best efforts with the “Puschel,” we simply can’t keep cobwebs from appearing permanently. If you have a fear of spiders, our house probably isn’t the right place for you.
The garden, too, is—let’s say—unspoiled. Maybe a little wild, but that’s exactly why dogs and other animal guests feel especially at home here. With a little luck, depending on the season, you might find apples, raspberries, or even wild strawberries. Feel free to help yourself.
We hope you’ll be able to embrace this special place—with all its quirks, charm, and history.
