The Astental Valley offers excellent hiking opportunities for young and old alike, right through working alpine pastures with unique flora and fauna. The “Astner Moos” nature trail leads through a lowland bog eighty meters wide and one kilometer long, where you can discover plants that are rare in Austria and are sure to delight nature lovers. For guests staying at the Almrosenhütte in October or November, a special treat awaits—namely, a free guided hike led by the hut owner himself.

The Almrosenhütte is a newly built log cabin-stylenestled amidst alpine meadows with an impressive view of the surrounding mountains. The area around the Almrosenhütte is part of the Astental hiking region and the Hohe Tauern National Park. The cabin’s location is a paradise for hikers, snowshoers, and ski tourers. With its cozy atmosphere, this comfortable lodge offers the ideal setting for a relaxing mountain vacation. At the Almrosenhütte, you can leave everyday life behind and unwind. The “Sadnighaus,” an Alpine Club lodge, is just a few hundred meters from the Almrosenhütte. At the “Sadnighaus,” guests can treat themselves to regional hut specialties. The nearest town is Mörtschach, located about seven kilometers from the Almrosenhütte. In Mörtschach, you’ll find shops for daily necessities as well as restaurants. The Almrosenhütte is accessible by car year-round. A parking lot is located right next to the hut. Dogs are welcome at the Almrosenhütte.
