Situated on the north-western edge of the Uckermark, the small border town to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has become a popular holiday resort. Lychen rightly has the nickname "Märkisches Interlaken", which alludes to the town's exposed island location at the Lychener Seenkreuz and the countless bodies of water in the surrounding area.
