Tale of Two Cities
For able-bodied guests, this is a totally charming and well appointed cabana. The location is excellent, everything was squeakly clean, the kitched is well-equipped, the bathroom is spacious with two sinks, and the beds are very comfortable. That said - this cabana is listed as wheelchair accessible, and other than being able to get in the door without having to go over any steps, it is NOT wheelchair accessible. It is difficult for someone in a wheelchair to get from the parking area to the front door, it is very difficult for someone in a wheelchair to access the bathroom, and it is totally impossible for anyone confined to a wheelchair to access the bedrooms. The pathway to the bedrooms is very narrow and entails 90 degree turns in very tight (for someone not on two legs) quarters. The space between the bed and the walls is equally narrow. I had to shove the bed toward the opposite wall so my husband using his walker could squeeze his way to the bed. The bed is also very high, which is lovely for able bodied folks, and very challenging for people with limited mobility. Bottom line, I recommend that this cabana not be listed as wheelchair accessible or, if it is, to install a couch in the living room that can be converted to a comfortable bed for the disabled person.
