Where do I start? We had a very late arrival on Friday May 24th. Property was exactly as stated, but the pictures don't reflect the coziness or relaxed feel of this cottage. It is literally right on the lake, maybe 15 yards from the shoreline. An outfitter delivered 2 kayaks for us on Saturday morning & we spent the next blissful 4 days in bathing suits from sun up to sun down. Our twins are 15 & they swam, fished, kayaked, floated, repeated...all day long. They are both excellent swimmers (certified lifeguards) & excell at outdoor activities, however, the rule for our family was anytime they were in the water, near the water or on the dock, they had to be wearing a lifejacket. We brought all 4 of ours, & they were well used for our entire stay. Since this is a lake (& not a pool), it is a natural area. so I suggest old sneakers for lake swimming or such-we had river sandals, crocs, water shoes & my husband brought old sneakers. Rocks on the bottom & some debris (such as sticks) so that made swimming easy & fun. We also had noodles & ring floats. We grilled out every day. The ease of moving about the property made it delightful-we put outdoor items on the deck-strapped wet lifejackets to the railing for drying, towels over the railing as well. I sat on the deck every day with my coffee & breakfast. Twins came & went. There are 3 tvs, but we mostly used the one in the family room. One of the bedroom tvs got used a little bit, but we were outside-including napping! :) Shade on the dock was perfect for morning fishing, shade on the deck was perfect for afternoon napping. :) We had tablets & technology with us, but aside from some summer homework, the twins didn't use any. TV was only on in the evenings some & that was after it was too dark to swim or fish or kayak. It is a noisy spot on the lake-the gas station is directly across the lake, but it is also one of the most interesting! The bridge is right there, so there is some road noise from the traffic, but it came & went & we were honestly so busy enjoying the outside that we didn't really notice it. Being a holiday weekend, the boat channel was like the interstate on Sunday, but the people & boat watching was entertaining. It is a No Wake Zone right in front of the cottage as well, so the boats were going slow & the waves were lots of fun on floats. Interestingly enough, Sunday was busier on the water than Monday & on Tuesday, we might as well have been the only people on the lake1 :)
