This was our second stay with Blue Oar, and the house and grounds exceeded expectations. The lake front/dock/fire pit area is by far one of the best amenities we’ve experienced in a vacation rental. Not only is this home decorated with high end/comfortable furnishings, but the renters treat it like a home and it feels like one. So many vacation rentals are furnished like, vacation rentals, not blue oar! We love this home and all the water amenities, we kayaked, paddle boarded and pedal boated! My father’s family is from Cassadaga and several still live locally and they came over for a fire and dinner on Sunday to listen to the band at the beach and loved it so much, they want to rent it as a staycation home! We can’t wait to come back!

House was very clean and extremely well stocked. Lake was gorgeous. Everything was supplied for our enjoyment - kayaks, paddle boards, life jackets, fishing rods, bikes, Adirondack chairs, corn-hole, beach towels, and more. We had a wonderful, relaxing two days. Owner is very responsive. Just a great place to stay.

Relaxing family getaway

Luxe on the lake

We loved this place! The kids were so excited to all have their own bedrooms and we were as well. The beds were very comfortable. The place was not only clean, but very well organized with labels to help make everything that much easier, even in the garage! We appreciated all the fun extras, like the bikes, the outdoor games, the kayaks, etc. The landscaped dock area was beautiful. So nice to have the sitting area down there, and also up at the house on the front porch. Thanks for a great stay!

Great Lakeside Summer Abode

Fantastic property with all of the amenities! Very clean and very nice beds with a great lakeside view, access to dock, paddle boat, firepit, garage and backyard. Also felt very safe in this area! Highly recommend for any short visit or weeklong vacation! Five Stars

Another Wonderful Stay at The Blue Oar

This property is absolutely delightful! All the amenities a family could want. Too numerous to mention here! Our family has stayed here multiple times and it is absolutely wonderful each time! The owner is excellent — never, ever had a problem at the house; Kim has literally thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable. We have already booked for 2026!

Perfect Getaway

Our stay was absolutely amazing!! Had an issue with the water, but was fixed in a timely manner. Since I’m a Chef, the kitchen was perfect except I would suggest having a few more utensils such as a whisk, rubber spatula and larger skillets. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Family Vacation

This house is awesome! Very Clean, location was great. Plenty of room as we were not falling over each other, played plenty of games and cards which were provided. Spent a lot of time on very spacious porch with the whole family just talking after dinner. We brought our own boat which we docked there, and the guys went fishing every day! I spent time on the dock just sitting and reading by the water, very peaceful! It was a great week!

Family vacation

This property was excellent! It literally had everything and beyond what we were expecting. The house was very clean and had all the supplies again beyond what was expected. We had a few days with rain so the large garage was great to play games in along with picnic tables that was under roofing to keep us dry was very convenient. I would definitely recommend this property and Kim was extremely prompt and a pleasure to communicate with when we had questions. Consider this property for your next get away!

Magical

This lake house did not disappoint. The pictures are nothing compared to the real thing. You step into a high-quality design architecture digest-worthy home. From the landscaping, and beautifully decorated home to the well-stocked kitchen. I usually have to buy a ton of items to make my family comfortable however not at Kim's Lake house. They thought of everything. Ample silverware, toiletries, cushions, TVs, and even a reading and computer nook. You never know how much a home could bring you joy until you stay at a home like this. We were in love with the lake view, and the quiet peaceful neighborhood. Slept so comfortably in the king-size bed together with all the other rooms so well portioned and positioned in the home. The master suite was so comfortable that just that room would have been enough for me for the entire stay. All I can say is thank you Kim for your kindness with our last-minute updates. Your prompt responses throughout made this so easy. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with me and my family. I hope to return again very soon.

Lakeside tranquility getaway with friends

I've stayed at many VRBOs over the years but Blue Oar has really set the bar high for me from now on. Firstly, the location setting was perfect. A quiet street with gorgeous lake views that can be enjoyed from the large front porch with comfy seating to include a relaxing porch swing. There is plenty of parking. And lots of outside space as well, not only there at the house, but at the private beach area that has a cool firepit and a dock with seating. When we were there it was too early in the season to enjoy the lake but during the summer I imagine it would be amazing with the many water activities you could enjoy. I want to complement the owners for how well appointed their rental is. We enjoyed cooking several of our meals in the kitchen and it was as well appointed as any of our own homes. Everything you could need is provided. The bathrooms were equally well appointed and the house is so charming. We loved the living area, with the comfortable couches and seating and a couple of us needed to check into work and made good use of the little office/library room just off the front entryway area. They had also provided many board games and we used the dining table area in the evenings to enjoy playing games. There were little extras here and there throughout the house that we discovered during our stay. Rarely do you find a rental property where you feel "at home" but Blue Oar felt like a home away from home for me, and the rest of our friend group as well. Thank you!

Hi! I split my time between Cassadaga Lakes, NY and Pittsburgh, PA, where I run my marketing firm, Blue Tomato. I grew up in nearby Jamestown, NY, and I have a passion for renovating and restoring old spaces.

My two dogs, Moggy & Mosey, especially love spending time at Blue Oar Lakehouse and Blue Canoe Lake Cottage. During your stay, my wonderful property manager, Rachyl, who lives right in the village, will be available if you need anything.
