Maison très agréable avec belle terrasse. Très grande piscine bien entretenue. Détail important : personne charmante qui vous accueille. Situation idéale entre Cevennes et Camargue. Beaucoup d'activités aux alentours. Bref ...on reviendra certainement.

Zeer mooi Appartement met dubbele badkamer op de begane grond met groot terras.

Heerlijk zwembad, mooie omgeving. Goed contact met de eigenaar. Lekkere restaurants in een straal van 10 km. Fijne plek om steden als Montpeliers en Nimes te bezoeken.

Super location

Nous avons passé une super semaine à la Bastide des Lavandières qui est un endroit magnifique! Notre appartement (fleurs) avait tout le confort nécessaire, une bonne literie ainsi qu'une très agréable terrasse spacieuse. Les extérieurs sont également très plaisants et bien entretenus, la piscine est super (grande, propre et entourée de nombreuses chaises longues pour que chacun puisse s'y relaxer). Je recommande vivement cette location et envisage même d'y retourner.

Spacious apartment with lovely terrace and welcoming pool.

The apartment was comfortable had everything we needed for our short stay. The pool was much appreciated during very hot September weather. We spent very little time inside the apartment as it had a large private terrace.

Bright, clean appartment with a nice pool and outside area.

Our arrival went so smooth. Serge, the caretaker is the perfect host. We were unpacked and by the pool in no-time. The apartment is big, light and clean and has everything you need. Beds are great, as are the showers! It is perfect for a quiet getaway (as there aren't a lot of 'flashy' things to do around here). Absolutely loved it.

Work on converting the Bastide into the 6 luxury apartments that we have today began in early 2007 & was completed in mid 2008 . Because of the age of the building a lot of renovation work was required in order to retain the character of such a beautiful 19th century building . Now aproximately 15 years on we still get a thrill out of sharing this place with our guests . So whether you are seeking a relaxing break by the pool, enjoying the countryside, sampling the superb wines from nearby vineyards, sight seeing, or having a more active holiday, La Bastide des Lavandières apartments are ideally placed.
We are sure you will love your stay here in this wonderful area of france as much as we do

For over a century & a half La Bastide des Lavandieres has been a prominent feature in the small village of Canaules . Originally constructed in 1850 it has had a few different & diverse existenses during the intervening years . At various times during the 170 years or so it has been here the building has served the village as both a small hotel , a cafe & during the 50's & 60's - a chique French nightclub . Canaules is now a quiet village but during this period it was actually known as "The Saint-Tropez of the Cevennes" Among the high profile personalities who performed here was the famous 'French Elvis' - Johnny Hallyday who sadly passed away recently . He may not be widely known outside of France but he has had over 50 years of a career in music. He was & is still one of France's biggest stars , having performed in front of 15 million people & sold over 100 million records - 18 of which were platinum albums . Other famous singers who have performed in Canaules include Jacques Brel , Francoise Hardy & Charles Aznavour . This apartment was originally a part of the original night club where these and many more well known artists performed .

La Bastide des Lavandieres is located in the village of Canaules deep in the Languedoc wine producing region of the south of France . Originally constructed during the 19th century (1850) it has previously been used as a small hotel , a café & a night club . Following extensive renovations & rebuilding during 2007 & 2008 this wonderfully preserved stone building has now been converted into luxury apartments with private off-road parking & extra large swimming pool.

Canaules is a typical French village - small but full of character . It is close to a number of larger villages & small towns as well as numerous vineyards - many of which welcome visitors . Guests are very welcome to come & visit our friends the Plagne family at the nearby Domaine de la Vallière and also the Chardonnaud family at Domaine les Vieux Foudres . Both vineyards are delighted to welcome our guests for tastings , tours etc .

Nearby you will find a selection of excellent restaurants & typically French small bars -including our own village café / bar - LE FAITOUT DE CANAULES just a 30 sec. walk from your apartment . Ales which is just a 15 minute drive away has all of the shopping & entertainment options you would find in any large city of it's size . It also has a great sandy river beach with evening entertainment & food which is open during July & August !

Nimes , Montpellier & Marseilles are just 3 of the cities which are easily reached as well as the beaches on the coast or the skiing in the Cevennes.

It is our aim that guests who stay in La Bastide des Lavandieres will go home with the desire to return time & time again . To achieve this aim we know that the quality of the accommodation we provide needs to be very good. We believe that this wonderful 19th century building will live up to all expectations & that a return visit will be on everyones' agenda after experiencing what we have to offer.
