Disapppointed
Unfortunately, our stay was marred by construction works going on starting Monday morning through to Friday 8:30 - 5. The works were in the adjacent unit and the jackhammer and hammering noise was heard and vibrations felt, in the living room area - not ideal for university kids studying for exams and others trying to relax. The building is about 40 years old and there are about 6 units, being gutted and renovated. So, expect a lot of disturbance, of not just noise but workers around all of the time, over the next many months.I messaged Maria about this on Tuesday when we saw that this was going to continue. Heard nothing and messaged again on Thursday. She apologised and said she would consider a partial refund for our stay but had to wait to be paid by the company. When I still hadn't heard from her a week later, I called. She explained that VRBO's policy forbid her from offering a refund. So, I called VRBO. It turns out she had lied, as VRBO told me that they have no such policy. She had offered 3 nights free on our next visit. I told her we have no reason to return there and would take the 3 nights refund. VRBO tried to get her to give us a refund, but she has refused.View of the ocean from the flat is nice. Kitchen has lots of crockery and cookware. The master bedroom bed is two single beds pushed together.The bathrooms are dark and not well-ventilated.Neighbour on the other side came over several times pestering us, clearly irked with rentals next door.
