My wife and I have been fortunate enough in our lives to have travelled to many islands, stayed in a variety of accommodations, and dealt with the owners of all. Pierre and his Villa FETIA ITI now top the list. He could not have been more informative, accommodating, flexible... and NICE!
If you prefer to do most of your own cooking, explore the island, read a good book, and be mesmerized by the most beautiful view from the perfect deck, actually say you've been to Bora Bora (rather than a hotel on a motu "looking" at Bora Bora), then this is your place! It is literally a modern beach house on stilts. Perfectly decorated as such, spotless, beach chairs (4) w/umbrella, washer, dryer, (pack lighter than you've ever packed before!), dishwasher, and all the utensils and cookware needed. Any other thing or information needed, just walk down to Barthélemy and Nathalie's (managers) house and ask. They are about as nice as it gets! ... and not just because he picked mangos for us!!
Pierre's rental car (great rate) was used for grocery run, to get to Matira beach (20 min, good snorkeling off of north end in front of dive shop... bring your own gear). Also, "best of the best" swimming beach further down at south end... nobody really there during the week, and just a few more locals on weekend. WARMEST waters anywhere! Also drove into the main town (can see the whole thing in 10 min) and ate at the Les Roulettes (rolling food trucks w/tables and chairs) with the locals. 10-14 US dollars, big plate...wife and I split meal.
Can also swim in front of Pierre's down around Marlon Brando's old Overwater Bungalow (and 4 others). These, by the way, just add to the uniqueness of the deck view.
Took some short hikes (Barthélemy showed us where to start) and a lagoon snorkeling tour... a must!
The one main road (which goes around the island (beautiful drive w/views of Mt Otemanu) is just below the house. You get a little car, scooter, or dog noise once in awhile, but the roosters and other tropical bird sounds more than make up for it.
One more thing (to show Pierre's attention to detail), he even put up padding above the low-lying doorway going into laundry and storage area... for those of us that sometimes forget to duck!
Thanks Pierre!
