We had a wonderful one week vacation in this log house. We consisted of my husband & myself, 4 young adult children and one infant grandchild. We swam to the float, fished, and used the 2 canoes. We enjoyed the screened in porch and eating our meals out there.
The kitchen was well supplied with utensils, pots & pans, etc., but the interior of the cabinets was in total disarray. I felt compelled to organize them upon our arrival if I was going to cook meals for a whole week here. I have stayed in many other VRBO homes and I felt this house was not attended to as well compared to other homes I've rented.
The house is set back from the lake in the woods and is in the shade most of the day. Several high hat lights in the cathedral ceiling were burnt out and due to the ceiling height, there was no way for us to replace them. The balance of the lighting in the house is inadequate and since the house is in a shaded location, it was rather dark. We needed to keep lights on most of the time during the day while we were in the house. More floor, table lamps, or track lighting would be a simple remedy. IT was also very dark over the sink and in the kitchen, especially at night.
The waterfront dock has an eastern exposure and the sun passed overhead at about 2:00 in the afternoon, leaving the waterfront in the shade for the rest of the day.
The master bed has a deep mattress on it, and if I was informed of this ahead of time, I would have brought deep cornered bottom sheets. Regular fitted bottom sheets do not stay on. The master bed was also missing a mattress cover and I was curious/suspicious whether the blankets which were piled in the closets had all been washed after the previous visitors. These two thoughts left me slightly uncomfortable.
Regardless, the house was roomy and spacious and we just loved being in Maine.
