Beautiful Crete

Zach and Marina are charming hosts who made us very welcome. The house has been restored and furnished sensitively, there is lots of space inside and out, on those hot days the terrace gets a lovely cooling wind. Not to forget zacks amazing honey and olive oil, liquid gold.

2 weeks discovering marvellous beaches and walking around

Very good 2 weeks stay, Perivolia is well located to discover the most beautiful beaches of Crete. We alternated walks, trails and beaches. Coast road is beautiful and there are small restaurants around. Zach and MArina are super helpfull and kind hosts, we had very nice time with them. House is very nice and decorated. The terrass is great. We will come back !!!

Beautiful stone walled home upgraded for comfort.

Enchanting. Balmy summer breeze throughout the house. Nightly serenade of rushing wind through the large sycamore and olive trees along with crickets.

Wonderful experience

The house is beautiful, with everything you could need. The area in the forest and mountains is outstanding. We walked many miles from the house. There are fantastic beaches within easy reach but we liked to spend our time in the mountain villages. The view from the terrace is incredible, and the stars and owls at night make it very special. Zackarias is a generous and informative host. We have learnt so much talking to him. We hope to return one day

Fabulous host + breezy beautiful house = perfect holiday!

Zacharias is such a lovely host: we messaged en route and he met us in the village (on bike) to guide us up to the house. There was Zacharias' own red wine, honey AND olive oil on the table for us to use during our stay and we wish we could have taken more home with us! He is a fabulous host with a wealth of local knowledge (trust his weather forecast over all others!), available when you need him and otherwise allows his guests the privacy and chance to unwind in the beautiful house. The house is an oasis of cool and calm in the Crete heat: sunny areas for breakfast, a shaded eating area for lunch and just enjoying the stunning mountain views. We loved the mosquito screens across both doors so you can enjoy the evening breeze wafting through the house and NO bites the whole holiday. Bliss! Great wifi, too. There are beautiful walks from the doorstep and shortish drives to pick up the numerous coastal E4 walking routes. It is around 25 minutes drive to Kedradosas beach which is magical with juniper trees for shade (or walk from Elafonissi). There are four tavernas in the next village of Elios - you could eat out every night. Best meal has to be Gialates in Livadia which we discovered by chance. Can't wait to return for a walking holiday next time in a cooler month: September? For now we are back home but still enjoying breakfast with more of Zacharias' honey, thank you!

Perfekter Aufenthalt!

Wir hatten perfekte 2 Wochen. Die Unterkunft ist sehr gut ausgestattet, die Anbindung zu den schönsten Stränden ist prima. Zacharias, der Vermieter, ist außerordentlich nett und gibt sehr viele tolle und hilfreiche Informationen.

Schönes Haus in wunderbarer Umgebung

Wir wurden von Zacharias sehr fürsorglich und herzlich empfangen. Das Steinhaus war liebevoll eingerichtet. Zacharias hatte immer gute Tips für uns und so kamen wir auch an tolle Strände, lernten wie man griechischen Kaffee macht, was typischer Käse ist und vieles mehr. Die drei Hunde sind so liebenswert. Vielen Dank Zacharias für die gute Zeit!

Aussergewöhnliche Unterkunft und Gastgeber

Ein aussergewöhnliches Haus mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Man hat viel Raum auf mehreren Ebenen. Zacharias und Marina haben uns herzlich aufgenommen und uns über die ganze Zeit mit hauseigenen Produkten verwöhnt. Sie standen uns für alle Anliegen und Fragen jederzeit zur Verfügung. Das Haus liegt in einem Tal, der nächste Ort Elos bietet einen Minimarkt, Bäckerei, Cafe und Tavernen. Er ist auch zu Fuß in ca. 30-40 Minuten erreichbar. Strände und Städte sind per Auto gut erreichbar, man ist halt immer eine Zeit unterweges. Aber wir wollten ja auch was von der Insel sehen. Wir haben die Zeit sehr genossen. Vielen Dank an Zacharias und Marina für Ihre Gastfreundschaft!

Magical House in Stunning Mountain Location

I simply can't express what a wonderful time we had staying in Perivolia in a house unlike any I have ever seen. The house is really incredible - it's like staying in a work of art. The creativity of Zacharias and Marina is very evident. Zacharias is a truly amazing host. He is a wealth of information about Crete, very attentive to anything we needed, and was so generous by sharing his amazing homemade honey, marmalade, wine and raki. Our stay was an incredible experience and I definitely hope to return.

This apartment was amazing! The owner of the apartment is such a nice guy. He helped us during our stay with our car and gave the best recommendations regarding beaches and restaurants. The balcony is a dream come true! You can sit there after a long day at the beach and enjoy the sun and have a drink. We had the best time!

Creta...non solo spiaggia

Abbiamo passato una piacevole settimana nella casa di Zacharias e Marina. La casa è molto originale, in stile tradizionale cretese personalizzato benissimo dai proprietari e completa di tutto. L'interno non è luminoso, ma molto fresco. C'è anche una terrazza spaziosa e ventilata, dove poter fare colazione. La posizione è strategica per raggiungere le più belle spiagge della costa occidentale in una mezzoretta. Zacharias e Marina sono veramente ospitali e simpatici. Abbiamo infine molto gradito le colazioni con le loro marmellate e il miele, il loro olio e il .. raki!

Amazing hosts - authentic, beautiful property in the mountains near perfect beaches

Firstly, our hosts were amazing. Upon our arrival they invited us over for food, drinks and conversation. They offered us lovely hospitality constantly. They offered us unbounded honey, raki, olives, wine and more. They offered advice, were present for conversation and gave us space to explore. They have two sweet dogs (Gucci and Mini - if I have the spelling right?!) a beautiful garden. The property is lovely and truly authentic. It is in a very small collection of houses in the mountains. The land is lovely. You can walk up the mountain behind the house for amazing views. The area is very quiet and lovely. The home and surrounding property has rustic charm galore. Every area of the home is decorated with care. There is a small town around 10 minutes drive (Elos) with somewhere good to eat in 1 direction and another town 10 mins the other direction with the more places to eat. The beaches are around 1/2 hour away - in particular Kedrodasos is breathtaking (better than Elafonisi IMO!). We stayed for 1 week with 2 families. Our 2 teen-agers were very pleased with the high quality wifi. The property is very cool at all times, being a stone house in good shade. If anything we needed blankets at night. Both families were very happy indeed. We would gladly visit again.

Der Perfekte Ort

Wenn man wirklich was außergewöhnlich Schönes finden möchte, dann sollte man diesen Ort von Zacharias aufsuchen. Der herzliche Vermieter hat in einem wundervollen Steinhaus mit außergewöhnlicher Einrichtung etwa Besonderes geschaffen. Zudem ist das Haus durch die dicken Wände im Sommer innen kühl, auf der wundervollen Terasse lässt sich von Yoga über Sonnenbaden bis rumhängen alles tun. Das wunderschöne Innendesign und die üppige Außenbepflanzung inspirieren und füllen auf besondere Weise auf.

Amazing host

We have had a wonderful time at Meli-Zachari. Zacharias was incredibly welcoming, generous and helpful. It’s an old house, very atmospheric and in lovely surroundings. Everything was provided for our stay : soap, detergent, toilet paper, towels, salt, olive oil, vinegar, sugar, raki, wine, honey (delicious!), coffee etc... Amazing scenery. Great WiFi. Excellent taverns in Elos and Kefali nearby. Last but not least, our sons loved playing with Zacharias’ two very friendly dogs! Thank you

Beautiful house in a beautiful setting!

The house is rustic and is in a very small secluded village. it was absolutely perfect for us in every sense and provided a cosy evening setting after all day beach incursions. The location is perfect to some of the most beautiful beaches in Crete. AND Zachari, the host, could not be any more charming and helpful. We will definitely be coming back.

Superbe endroit pour les amoureux de la nature! La maison typique est très agréable à vivre, entourée d’ oliviers, de figuiers et parfaitement décorée. Zacharias et Marina sont très accessibles et nous ont permis de découvrir des endroits incroyables. Absolutely wonderful

We stayed at Meli-Zaxari Vila for 5 days with our 7,11 and 13 year old, as well as mother and sister in law (who are Greek). The home was delightful- just as in the pictures! The owners were so friendly and helpful- we felt so welcome. Easy access to beautiful beaches and wonderful tavernas...and the view of the sky and mountains is unbeatable. We would 100% stay here again!

We will be back!

Zacharias and Marina were lovely hosts. They made us feel very welcome upon our arrival and their wine, honey and raki were a much appreciated offering! They were especially helpful in making recommendations that took us to our absolute favorite beach and our most memorable and delicious meal of our trip. The feel of the house is truly special - breakfasts on the patio, hearing the night bird coo, and cooking in their lovely kitchen were highlights! We will indeed return.

Ein wunderbarer Urlaub

Wir werden noch lange eine Sehnsucht haben. Sehnsucht nach diesem schönen "Zuhause" im Urlaub. Das liebevoll eingerichtete Apartement, sehr offene und warmherzige Art, mit der Zacharias auf unsere Wünsche eingegangen ist, seine Empfehlungen zu den besten Tavernen oder auch Tips, welche Wege oder Strände wir ausprobieren sollten, haben unsere Ausflüge in die Umgebung Westkretas sehr bereichert. Die Lage ist wirklich sehr gut, weil man von dem gemütlichen Dorf die wunderschönen Stränden im Süden, Elafonisi oder Kedradavos in 20 Autominuten oder im Norden Balos in 40 Minuten, erreicht. Wir haben wunderbar in der Taverne "Panorama" in Kefali (1 km entfernt) gegessen. Eine sehr gute Küche haben wir in dem Bio-Dorf Melia in den Bergen entdeckt. Fragt unbedingt nach Tagesgerichten, ihr werdet nicht enttäuscht. Die beste Fischtaverne war für uns "Kapitän Nicolao" in Falassarna, auch ein Tip von Zacharias. Wir waren Anfang Oktober in Kreta, konnten im Meer baden, die Berge besteigen (Zacharias hat uns mal mitgenommen), die Schluchten erkunden. Und auf Kreta wird nicht so wild mit Auto gefahren, wie man so oft hört. Die Menschen sind zuvorkommend und rücksichtsvoll. Lieben Dank an Zacharias und Marina.

Lovely house tucked into traditional life

We had a lovely week staying here with our 2 young children, lovely warm welcome and everything we needed. Supplied of local wine, olive oil, raki and honey made by Zacharias. A wonderful host. Lots of amazing beaches close by and stunning scenery.
