Excellent location for walking

Stunning location overlooking the Ribeira da Janela valley and with sea views. A beautifully restored traditional house with all amenities provided.

Wunderschönes Häuschen in bester Lage

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen, es fehlte nichts. Das Haus ist sehr ruhig gelegen und hat eine wunderschöne Aussicht.

Unsere Erwartungen wurden erfüllt

Wir haben unsere Woche in Porto Moniz sehr genossen. Das Haus liegt wunderbar ruhig und mit schönem Blick. Leider auf der "falschen" Talseite, so dass wir wenig Sonne abbekommen haben und die Terasse nicht nutzen konnten. Die Küche ist perfekt eingerichtet, alles ist sehr gemütlich und es fehlt an nichts. Die Verwalterin ist äußerst nett und hilfsbereit und bei der Ankunft stand eine Grundversorgung mit Brot, Butter, Käse, Marmelade, Obst bereit. Allerdings ist die Zufahrt zu dem Domizil doch extrem steil und eng und da wäre es fair, wenn es darauf einen Hinweis in der Beschreibung gäbe. Die Verwalterin transportiert das Gepäck gerne bei der An- und Abreise.

Beautiful and quiet

We really enjoyed our stay over two weeks in Ribeira de Janela. The house is really nice and in an excellent shape. The location is great for hiking and sightseeing, it takes a bit of time to travel to Funchal and other locations on the eastern part of Madeira, though. One thing to keep in mind is that the northern part of the Island is much more cloudy than the sunny south. This was OK for us and it only takes a short trip with the car to a more sunny location. Maria gave us a very warm welcome and helped us to bring the luggage to the house. It is possible to go there with the car but the access is quite narrow and steep, but it is possible to park the car in 150m distance of the house. We can and will definitely recommend this beautiful and quiet location and if we return to Madeira there wil be no need to look for someting else! Many thanks!

Great property, great location and exceptional hospitality!

Casa de Campo is in a great location and superbly equipped for a self-catering stay with high quality appliances, including 2 fridges. It feels rural, yet you can hear the waves breaking when you are lying in bed - about 20 minutes downhill walk away! Maria met us in Porto Moniz and we followed her in our car to the property, parking close by while Maria transferred our luggage in her car - the final lane to the property is very steep and we chose not to drive it! Very thoughtful touches on our arrival - milk, cake, flowers, butter and cheese - despite the nearest shop being only 5 minutes walk away (you can see it from the property). On our departure, Maria arrived promptly and transferred our luggage again. All very straightforward and a great base for exploring the stunning scenery of Madeira.

Peaceful place

We stayed for a week in the house. We had a really nice time. The house is nice and comfortable, we had all we need even some food in the fridge! Maria is very welcoming. We enjoyed the view on the sea and the rural environment. Is very peaceful. We definitely recommand it!

Peaceful bliss

The property was beautifully restored and better than we expected for the price. Great location for walks in the Porto Moniz area. Property terraced garden is lovely for sitting out on. House has all the basics you'd need. This is our 4th time to Madeira so wanted to try something new rather that be Funchal side. It's naturally a bit wetter but we always found sunshine! Access to the property is down a steep narrow hill and you're brave taking a car down to it! We travelled with a 3y. And a 6m old. High chair in property was more of a junior chair and stairs not safe. Would probably suit travelling adults or older family more. However we loved property, location and hosts!
