The couch upstairs by the banister is normally kept a couple of feet away so no one can climb over. It looks like someone moved it, so we put it back for safety. Thanks for understanding! You also happened to visit during a very unique time. We are truly oceanfront, but the ocean only reaches under the house for about a week each year during a nor’easter. It’s definitely unusual to see! Normally, even at high tide, there are about 50 yards of beach out front. The town of Nags Head also does beach renourishment every couple of years to help maintain the shoreline. We’re so glad you loved your stay and described the views and the fun so beautifully. Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. Things do malfunction from time to time but we are glad it was just a coffee maker and were able to have it replaced quickly. We provide two coffee makers, a standard and a Keurig, which was not malfunctioning. Our neighbors are typically very easy to work with on parking, as a few of us will have issues from time to time from strong storms that roll in during the off season. We received our permit to have the sand moved a few days after your stay so the parking area is now clear of any deep sand and completely parkable.

We truly want every guest to have an amazing beach experience. That being said unless a guest reaches out to us we can not be given the opportunity to meet each persons individual expectation. Our cleaning company arrived to our house after this rental to find every room rearranged during her 3 day stay. Nothing was left in its original place to include new shower curtains that were purchased and installed without liners, new pillow cases, and new bedspreads. While we respect each individual guest’s taste we have our house decorated a certain way for a reason and would prefer guests did not rearrange the home. We say multiple times in our listing the fireplace is inactive as the town of Nags Head does not allow propane fireplaces on oceanfront properties for safety reasons. All lamps are functional but on switches which seems to be confusing for this guest. We painted the entire house less than 5 years ago as well as having WiFi since that time. The WiFi password is posted upstairs and downstairs and on the refrigerator as well as the counter. The windows are cleaned between each rental but the house is oceanfront so sea spray will always accumulate on the glass. The only communication we received from the guest was to say she was leaving a day early because the weather was poor. We wish she would have brought the other points to our attention so we could walk her through some of her challenges with our home.

We are really surprised by this review as the only communication we had with this guest was to send back out the cleaning company because they wanted new shower curtain liners put in the two bathrooms. We have plenty in stock for them to change out so this was no issue and our cleaning company did come back. We are always happy to send them back if a guest feels something was left inadequate but this was our first request this entire season. At the time of sending the cleaning company back I told the guest to keep them as long as they wished if they found anything else they were not happy with as we do pay very good money for a cleaning service and do expect things to be turned over in a clean condition to the next renter. I did speak with this guest directly after the cleaning company left to verify she was happy and she voiced no other concern. The master bedroom mattress is a king size pillow top Sealy mattress that we personally had put in the house in January of this year to the tune of $3000. Maybe it is too soft for some people, but I did put it in for my comfort in mind as it is the same type of mattress that I prefer at my home as I like to feel like I’m sleeping on a cloud – you cannot please everyone with your choice of mattress unfortunately. If the kitchen was dirty to the point she did not feel comfortable cooking why did this guest not have them re-clean it when they were sent back? No one really wants to cook on vacation – I get it – but do not blame it on a cleanliness issue. We actually had two grills at the location so I’m again not sure what that comment is about. We also keep a brand new grill in storage at the location because of the extreme oceanfront location we have to replace them multiple times a year due to the elements. If she had voiced her displeasure in the grill I would have had a new one brought out of storage. Overall, we cannot please everyone and had no problem sending back the cleaning company when this guest contacted us. The house has a great location - you will not get better views or closer to the ocean without being on a boat which is why we have many happy and returning guests.
