The guest contacted us about malfunctioning parasols. The parasols had apparently been broken by previous guests. New parasols were delivered the next day. The guest complained that the pool was dirty. We contacted him immediately by phone to inform him that we had instructed the maintenance company to urgently check the situation. The maintenance company came the next day, confirming that the pool looked normal and clean. The guest, however, complained that there was dirt on the bottom of the pool and that, in his opinion, the cleaning was inadequate. We replied that the pool is cleaned once a week, on Fridays. Some dirt at the very bottom of the pool (2.5 meters deep) is inescapable. From the nature around our house, some dirt always blows in; sand sometimes fly from the Sahara to the South of France and, as a result, there is a little bit of sand at the bottom of the swimming pools. In the last 12 years, no guest has ever complained that the pool was not clean enough. Importantly, a little sand at the corners of the bottom of the pool does not affect the water quality or swimming experience. The guest also complained that the overflow did not work. This was fixed within a few days. This caused little inconvenience to the guest. The complaints are in our view nothing else than strategy to try to get a discount. He is now claiming a refund and threatening us with lawyers and legal action.
