An absolutely amazing property and such a gracious host!

This property is so wonderful it's hard for pictures to do justice. JF has created an amazing experience in a truely lovely town. Highly recommended.

Beautiful Home, Stunning Interior & Tasteful Throughout

The pictures do not convey how lovely this property really is. The overall feeling is spacious, tastefully decorated and very well equipped, easily catering for 8/9 people.

A Relaxing Week Away From It All

I recently stayed here for one week with my wife and our children (5 and 7.) We were looking for a very relaxing location with a high standard of accommodation and this property fitted the bill perfectly. The timing of our stay was awkward as it was a bank holiday in France, however, our host Jean-Francois was incredibly helpful in arranging for us to arrive so to still be able to get to the local shops and stock up before everyone shut for the holidays. The house itself is excellent, providing both large luxurious spaces and cozy areas where our kids enjoyed setting up toys and watching DVDS. The gardens are large and contain a sun trap for all times of day. The pool is lovely and far superior to most traditional villa pools. We loved our week's holiday at Jean-Francois' house and would recommend it to others looking for a relaxing place to stay within reach of numerous lovely day trip locations.

Family Retreat

Our stay in Montchauvet could not have been nicer- A lovely rural village full of charm. We met our adult children and their children there. The house and gardens were beautiful. Jean-Francois was so helpful.

Excellent endroit tranquille !

Excellent séjour ! La piscine est parfaite, la décoration magnifique, les salles de bains comme on les rêve, le jardin très bien entretenu, les chambres spacieuses et les équipements en quantité et en qualité. Cependant avec le temps maussade a l’exterieur, la maison est froide. Heureusement le jardin ensoleillé permet de se rechauffer

Lovely house near Houdan

This is a lovely house north of Houdan. There are two large salons, one downstairs and one upstairs, two good-sized bedrooms and two smaller ones, all very nicely decorated. The kitchen is well designed and efficient (be very, very careful with the Japanese cast iron tea kettle!) and the bathrooms are wonderful. The beds and linens are very good. For Americans who like to read at night, the lighting is a bit dim. The owner is wonderful - he is very helpful and concerned that you have a pleasant stay. The internet service was broken for our first three days and he worked hard to get it reconnected. The location is good for visits to Anet, Dreux, Evreux, Montfort l'Amaury, Giverny, and Chartres. Houdan is apparently the end station of an RER line into Paris, which would make it convenient to go into Paris without driving. A very good vacation home - we would recommend it.

Lovely!

A big comfortable property in a lovely village with many good local walks (bring footwear, some of it is farmland). The owner has his own separate house on the site where he/his family are part of the time - very helpful people. The pool is shared; there are separate garden areas. Also BBQ. Bicycles to borrow. Nearby golf course. Montchauvet has a one star Michelin restaurant, La Jumente Verte, which is good (see Trip Adviser). A short drive and a 50 minute train journey gets you into Paris Montparnasse (free parking at the station in Tacoignieres). Nearest shops are in Septeuil which is a five minute drive. Bigger supermarket at Maulette - 15 mins. Houdan nearby has a Friday street market - nice town. Chartres, Versailles, Dampierre, Monet's Giverny, etc, all within reach. Also Rouen. Forest walks just south of Tacoignieres - big forest where we saw wild boar and deer. For modern garden fans, worth the 1.5 hour drive to Le Jardin Plume at Auzouville-sur-Ry 20km east of Rouen. A very good place to relax and unwind with good options for outings without too much effort.

Bergerie cosy et chaleureuse a Montchauvet

Très belle bergerie au cœur du beau village de Montchauvet : arbres centenaires, vieilles pierres, jardin de roses, cuisine équipée et fonctionnelle (Lacanche), décoration très soignée, literie de qualité, ambiance cosy et luxueuse, cheminée de belle taille, grande piscine chauffée, des matériaux de qualité, charme et dépaysement a moins d' 1 heure de Paris !
