Ginny is the most wonderful host. She made us feel welcome from the moment we made our initial inquiry. The place is fantastic, situated with the most beautiful view overlooking the water, Acadia, the gorgeous Mountains and fields of wild blueberries you can eat off the vine. She has kayaks, PFDs, beach towels, bikes, helmets, flashlights, bug spray..... When you walk down to the beach/water there is wonderful seating, a fire pit with everything you need to make a fire even if you are a novice. The water is so refreshing. We swam and used the kayaks. We biked up and down the road to the end and the views were magnificent. About 1.3 miles from the house is an outdoor restaurant/lobster shack that serves lobster, crab and a variety of delicious seafood and sides.
The house, which is next door to Ginny's has a totally private entrance and a wonderful deck with an awning for great shade, views and relaxation. The home itself is well appointed with everything you need and is very clean and comfortable. There is no detail Ginny has left out. She has plush towels, toiletries if you left any behind, first aid kit, maps, list of things to do, etc.. The large master bedroom is air conditioned for the occasional hot night in Maine. There is also a ceiling fan in the living room. The place is spacious with a second very large private bedroom and living space and bathroom downstairs. I was with my husband so we did not need the downstairs, but it would be perfect for a family of four. We only used the downstairs for the laundry room, which was easy and convenient to use. The internet worked great, we were able to set up our Netflix easily on the TV. We did a day trip to Acadia and went up to Cadilac Mountain and hiked around Jordan Pond. It was really beautiful. We also just spent one day hanging out near the house because there was so much to do (bike, kayak, swim, walk, berry picking, reading).
I loved Surry Maine and look forward to coming again. This was really a very special place. Thank you Ginny!!!
