Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed the property and the beautiful garden. We have had in depth discussions with the owner over the winter and they confirm they will no longer use the driveway unless for unloading and will park outside. We have also amended the advert to clearly state this is a 2 apartment Lucca holiday, with the rare benefit of being, located well for exploring & a pool for exclusive use but that it is a family home. The balcony above the pool is not used but I understand the 'sense' of being overlooked.

Thank you for your review which I feel may be negatively biased, grossly exaggerated and in some part factually incorrect due to the fact the owner was surprised you arrived with 2 dogs instead of the 1 agreed, were leaving dog poop in the garden for him to clear, opened sofa beds to use for dogs to sleep on (using blankets from the bedrooms) despite the agreement that dogs were not to use furniture. Furthermore the house was left in a real mess and an additional cleaner was needed on changeover. This was all reported to the agency during your stay. There were 2 ovens, but of the countertop type. They are perfectly fine for cakes and for the chef when she provides meals. However, if you had reported that you didn’t feel you could make a cake in the oven, we would have arranged for one to be delivered. The owner does listen to feedback and since some other guests have mistaken these ovens for additional microwaves he has has removed 1 small oven and replaced with a full size oven for 2025. We do not understand the comment that there was no washing machine. As you are aware there were 2 washing machines on site, and the 2nd was reported broken a few days into your stay. The owner was upset that there was some difficulty in finding an engineer speedily (due to Italian Bank Holidays) but a lovely guest in your party said you were happy to share 1 machine while an engineer was found. This resulted in your 2nd machine not being repaired until towards the end of your stay. You were kept fully informed, and advised it was not a problem at all. Our advert has been recently updated to make it clearer owners are living at the house.

I will write to you separately re the waste separation as we would like to make it more simple and suggestions are welcome! I will also speak with the owner re privacy - he is usually very good with this. Best wishes, Lorraine at tuscan-retreats NB - for future guests, the walk to the City walls is 2.3km as per google maps and just over half hour, but it may feel longer in the heat! To the station is 2.1km and 29 mins. Part of the walk from the house will be unlit and without pavements - until you are closer to the walls. We have tried the drive on various occasions, in summer traffic and it is 10 mins. Taxis do need to be booked in advance but if you are a group of only 6 then the owner will also operate a taxi service for you on request. Our recommendation is however to hire a car unless you are staying in an apartment in the City walls - but then you sacrifice having a pool.

Each apartment does have a microwave and also a good size counter top oven but the owner is studying to see if he can place a full size oven at the pool area since we appreciate a full size oven will be much easier. Thank you for your review - we are glad you had a good time and enjoyed these beautiful apartments! I am sorry the communal area was not available for you on arrival - previous guests had asked if they could stay on late and the owner agreed they could use the downstairs area. The cleaner then got called away so it was left for the owners to prepare the following morning. This should have been made clear to you on arrival and not left until you asked. I am afraid the owner is so kind that he finds it difficult to say no to requests, but he now understands that guests will have to adhere to check out times unless there is nobody checking in same day. We hope you got good use of this area (which is being improved for next year too) for the rest of your stay. With regards to the cats, we understand this was raised when you were at the property. They do not belong to the owners but cats do just appear in Italy as they do in lots of countries where they have a different attitude to cats and spaying. They often live between various houses depending on wherever they get fed, and of course at rental properties guests often feed cats as they feel sorry for them which encourages them to try and adopt a place for home. We do annotate our adverts if there are resident pets, since we are aware some people have allergies or phobias, but I am afraid there is little we can do re those that are 'homeless. '. although they do tend to be pretty transient and will probably move on somewhere else .... For future guests, do note that the owners can assist with booking taxis, and they also offer a personal taxi service to guests at a lesser cost than local firms (and do airport runs) but they can only take a maximum of 6 guests so they are only able to do this for smaller groups. Many guests walk in, but it is 2.6km which is why we recommend hiring a car. Thank you for taking the time to submit a review of your stay.
